(1) In regards to Excel, the program has become the industry standard kind of by default more than anything. If you look back through it's "history", Excel really hasn't changed much since the beginning. Sure, the interface is better, and the introduced more comprehensive Macros and other crap that just makes it confusing for most users, but the structure and base features are exactly the same. Frankly, the only features that are worrysome when sending Excel documents via email are the Macros, and those don't even work properly from computer to computer, let alone across different programs (ie. Excel to "Lasso"). So, long story short, I'm very excited to see what Apple comes up with and really don't think interoperability will be an issue at all.
(2) In regards to Pages, and the complaints I've seen on here about it, let's not forget that in the world of software, iWork is a BABY. MS Office has been around forever, whereas Pages is only a few years old. And frankly, it already works light years better than Word could ever dream to. If you've ever attempting to do anything in Word other than type, you know it is so chock full of bugs and quirks that by the end of your project you'd rather write it out free hand.
So bring on Lasso, and Pages '07. I can not WAIT to delete office from my Mac and be done with everything that has that dirty M-word on it forever.
That is all.

While this is true in your area, it doesn't contradict what I said.
T-Mobile, contrary to what the person I was replying to said, does have its own network. In most areas where it operates, it is not using Cingular's network. In some areas, it uses Cingular's, and in others Cingular uses its, but in most areas, they're both independent of one another.
T-Mobile is the aggregate of most of the independent GSM operators that were coming online in the late nineties. Most of them were bought by Voicestream, T-Mobile took over Voicestream and then bought Powertel.
True. I had an Aerial phone from 1999-2000 and toward the end, the company was bought by Voicestream, which must have gotten all 15 of Aerial's towers in the U.S.A. ;) Verizon got the little purple alien's phone company.

You seem to take the position that the majority or mob rule can decide how much money to take from one person without inflicting the same on another person... in effect choosing winners and losers. Don't you advocate for the majority deciding who someone can marry or whether a woman has control over her own body?
Furthermore, you seem to not put any limit on this position so it would seem that you feel the majority has the right/ability to take as much money from 'the rich' as they choose to as long as they do it with a majority in the democratic process. This would imply that you don't think that the person who actually earned the wealth has any sort of moral or legal claim on the wealth. Please enlighten me as to where I am going astray in describing your position. I don't know about any positions regarding confiscatnig wealth, but arguing about that is almost as stupid as arging what flavor cheese the moon is made of. It's a fantasy! No one is actually suggesting that the wealthy have all of their wealth, or most of their wealth, confiscated. All that anyone has suggested is that we pay our the debts our country has amassed, and to do so, the best, most fair way would be to stop corporate welfare and subsidies and impose additional taxes on those who have the most, would be hurt the least, and who benefitted the most by the policies that created the debt.
Personally, I think the moon looks like swiss cheese, but if you think it's something else, that's fine.

No water damage right?
I mean, I really doubt it is, it was in my pocket today when someone splashed water on me, but I doubt very much touched it if at all.
It's starting to get really weird, like the home button will work for a little bit and then voice control will randomly activate and then I'll lose control of the phone and it'll act like I'm screwing with the home button (the quick-start menu will pop up, it'll switch black-and-white mode, voice control, etc...)
Maybe it is water damage? I mean, the phone wasn't wet or anything, how would I know?

FYI thread starter since you seemed to get irritated that you didn't get your answer after 31 minutes. I would suggest google and searching when asking common questions. you can get your answer in seconds rather then minutes or sometimes hours.

IThis is a useful fair use enabling technology. It will mean that iTMS purchased songs could be played on any player that has licensed Jon's work.
That isn't what this product does, and if it did it would run straight up against EUCD, DMCA etc.
It will mean that the iPod can play music from any store that has licensed Jon's work.
That is what the product is intended to accomplish.

With Lion coming up in the Summer, should Apple offer free upgrades to customers who buy a Mac now? I say that as potential customers could be holding out on purchasing a Mac until the new OSX is released, wouldn't it be better to secure those as customers now and give them the Lion when it's available. I'm keen to get a Mac, I can wait but if I knew I was eligible to get Lion free I'd probably pull the trigger now.
I know a similar thing was offered to Windows users, a free upgrade to 7 when it was released.
I don't remeber exactly how it was with leopard or even SL, but i think if you buy a mac after a certain date, you are eligible for a discounted disc- not a free copy

And if you need to use those pages or keynote projects at work or in school?
I used Keynote in school and currently use it at work, giving scientific presentations on a monthly basis at the least. There is not a huge need for it to be interoperable with PPT for me, although I can import what I need from colleagues and make it look much nicer in my Keynote talk. From what I've seen, Office needs to become interoperable within itself before people whine too much about compatibility between iWork and Office.

+1 on that. I hate when people jump on the bandwagon.
When I was visiting my grandma a couple years ago I asked her who she was voting for, she said Hillary Clinton... I asked why.... she said "Because Obama is a Terrorist" ... wow, news to me... not a fan but not a hater, lol. I asked where she'd heard that, and she said the news. I asked her to clarify and she said "All my ladyfriends are talking about it... Fox News discovered he had ties to terrorists in the middle east" ...
Fortunately for her, I was quickly able to "enlighten" her to reality.
Unfortunately for so many, especially in forums like this, people repeat what they hear. Twice today already I've run into people saying there are issues with devices they don't have. They get that info from somewhere... so comon, consider your sources before you post. While MR community is a good source, it's not necessarily accurate. Unless you come up with an original thought, don't stated it as fact, precede it with "in my opinion, based on......"
If you want to just propagate BS and repeat what others have said, return your apple product, because iPhone is clearly a defective product thanks to Consumer Reports opinion that it's unable to place calls because of it's antenna design. Oh, and cancel cable, because Disney Corporation is a bigot corporation who hates all jews, muslims, and gay people. LOL, ugh, people, don't be sheep.
