Wow, what a ripoff. You can get it done here in Spain for under $30.
Well mine was unlocked from the beginning since Czech Republic doesn't allow phones to be locked to a specific carrier ;).

I think for SL there was a timeframe (4 weeks?) for getting SL for free. Then there was a separate timeframe outside of that for getting SL for $10. I may be wrong, as I did not qualify for either.

I can almost picture Jobs marching into the Final Cut user group today saying "Oh and one more thing I forgot to mention..." as he gets up front. Remember there's supposedly a "super secret" announcement for today there...at least thats what apple calls it.

Nobody knows. We will likely know when Steve plans next years Macworld. If it is at SF, there is a good chance it will always be at SF.

I did some reading. If you have a jailbroken iPad and a certain app, you can upload the 1.0 optimum.api in a format that's sharable. Since the app is free, I don't see it being an issue of piracy to share it. I have an iPad 2 and there isn't a jailbreak for it yet. So someone with an iPad 1 can upload it.

As long as you are keeping everything together there is absolutely no problem and no gray area about it.
Apple does like to register Macs to a person or company, mostly for warranty reasons. They will change the registered owner upon request of the new owner.
The license number is not an activation like Windows Genuine Advantage, (WGA), its just a license number. It wont actually stop you from pirating it. It'll only complain if it see another SLS with the exact same number on the same local network.

So I have two wireless controllers for my xbox, and I would like to use one of them with my macbook. My question is, is there something I can buy to make my wireless controller wired? I don't really want to buy a whole new controller, as I don't really need it.
I know with the play and charge kit, it plugs your controller into the xbox, but I'm guessing that is for the battery only, and the controller continues to send signals wirelessly.
I have a feeling there isn't a way, but it never hurts to ask.

Actually, according to that article it looks like MS bought their last viable product and they then de-established the company. A technicality, but different than being bought by MS.
FWIW I corrected my earlier statement in Post #29 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=2693362&postcount=29).
Something about these pics of Ballmer make me want to get up and shout "Developers! Developers! Developers!"

Hey guys,
I need alot of help. I convinced my sister to get an iBook a few months ago. I told her that mac is way easier than PC. Now it appears that her computer is freaking out. She is calling me for tech support and I don't know how to help her. She is having very strange problems. So I will have a series of threads to help me with these problems, I would greatly appreciate any input.
First problem: She was having trouble with video (I will get into this later) and I told her to repair permissions, prebind, etc. To do this I had her get Cocktail, I figured it would be the easiest way.
Now, after she ran it, she cannot open Microsoft Office or iPhoto. Office is the most pressing problem because she is a student. When she opens it she gets an error message telling her she has corrupt fonts (see attached pic). She then has to force quit, nothing will work. I would suggest a reinstall but she left the CD at home (the parents are mailing it up, so this will be an option later). I have ran out of ideas, but hate to leave my sister stranded! ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX THIS?? Thank you all so much.

The warranty is void if something goes wrong from you incorrectly installing the RAM.
Apple Care terms and conditions are pretty much worded that way. They do not cover damage caused from an untrained person installing things into the machine.
So, if you don't damage the machine while installing the RAM, there's no problem.
To add, the RAM install is cake, so no need to worry too much about that as long as you're not careless.

@Wrsford on twitter might have really JB'd it. Doesn't really seem like an April Fool's joke to me.
Dunno, though.

The problem has now become constant so I moved my computer next to the TV and connected with a MDP to HDMI adapter and tried two different HDMI cables. When I switch the TV to the input I have connected the computer to it says "Retrieving Data" then says "No Signal" When I choose an unused input all I get is "No Signal." I then moved the computer back to the desk and reconnected everything. Since I have the computer set up as an extended desktop between the TV and the desk monitor and I had just connected the computer to only the TV it thought the TV connection was the main monitor and the desk monitor was the secondary. So I turned the TV back on to see if it was getting a signal and it was not. So I unplugged the MDP and I got the desktop back on my monitor. But if I go to system preferences and select Monitors it only sees the desk monitor.
My plan from here is to get another MDP-HDMI adapter and a MDP-DVI adapter. This way and I can swap the adapter going to the TV to see it it is the problem and I can connect my desk monitor to the computer using an MDP. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Just wait for the releases by Otterbox and Switcheasy. Those will be your best bets.
Switcheasy has a silicone case, but they will most likely release a hard shell case in the future (I would assume, at least.)

I had the mStand as well but as Knight mentions, it didn't suit the MacBook Air as good as it does with Apple's other MacBooks, so I let it go and just recently purchased the Griffin Elevator. I must say I really like this stand and its minimal approach matches the MBA aesthetics very well in my opinion.
Also, since it has a smaller incline than the mStand, your able to tilt your Macbook's screen further back.
Very nice and highly recommended.

Maybe when a post is copied from the forums, we should PM the original poster to let them know...
Yes, we should do that.
