    @PatrickCocoa

Thanks for the answer above. I do use a lot of things where I need to use my software for business related tasks.

I am torn. Don't know whether to give up Numbers without a fight.

Where can I get MS Office for Mac?

It's cute that people think Comex actually ever made a working Jailbreak for iPad 2.

I wish I could photoshop my way to 200k followers on Twitter.

Either way, I like current technology, so I don't worry about updates after 6 months. I replace my computers every 6 months, and my phones as well. This was one of the reasons I defected from Apple's phones, got tired of waiting for a one-a-year product cycle for a phone that wasn't even the latest and greatest technology.

wow, that explains your attitude then. Apple has never been interested in catering to technology fetishists like you, and never will be. why don't you go post constructive comments on Android forums instead of negative ones on Apple forums?

I am with everyone else who is saying that 10.5 will come out in January with Vista. It would make more sense.

I am surprisingly not upset about the upgrades that came out today (i bought a macbook 2 months ago) I am in love with my machine and cant wait to save up some cash and buy an Imac with the Santa Rosa chip.

I have a new MacBook Pro on the way, and I want to make sure I get it set up correctly.

On my iMac, I only have an Admin account. I've been told this is the wrong way to go, I should be using a User account.

When I first turn on the MBP, what is the correct order of steps I need to take to make a User account? Don't I have to make an Admin account first, to create a User account?

(If I remember from my iMac, it asks for my name, and .mac ID or whatever. Thats the reason why I don't have a User account, my info is already used by the Admin account.)

For 99.9% of the time, I will be the sole user of the MBP (as I am for my iMac). For they other .1% they can use the guest account.

Then in the same vein of questioning, is there a way to "downgrade" my current Admin account on my iMac to a User account?

We'll have to forget 4.3.1-4.3.2 untethered jailbreak for a bit guys..

i0n1c: The iOS 4.3.1/4.3.2 untether exploits require root access to install. Therefore they cannot be used with iPad2 without further exploits.

I'm hoping that comex will release his damn 4.3 jailbreak, what is he waiting for ?

Have a look here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451 it gives a few pointers on troubleshooting iTunes including instructions how to rebuild library. I had a similar issue with iTunes 9, when I could not add music to slideshows. Did a library rebuild and all worked well. Just as a first step, have you checked in Disk Utility for disk errors and rebuilt file permissions recently?

No, that would be slower as the read head of the hard drive would have to keep traveling between two physically-separate partitions when loading things. It would also likely wear out the drive faster as the read head would be moving around more.

The objective with a split setup is to divide system/app-loading and data-loading duties between two distinct drives. By working simultaneously to load everything, the process is much quicker as there's less 'head contention' (i.e. the head jumping back and forth between grabbing application resources and data). Putting the two partitions on the same drive would just worsen the head contention.

I am trying to do this similar thing - but I am confused

Do I need a pc software based VPN? Can't I just use my router VPN? I have tried VPN with just iPad and router but not working. I wonder if it is because my ip address to my router from cablevision is not static? Although my router ip hasn't changed since I started trying to do this, it keep failing.

Argh I am so pissed that I can't figure this out even with google

    Hi everyone,

At the moment I'm developing a website and am hosting it on Webs for free (I'm very tight on money, saving for first car, new Mac etc) but this gives me a very limited amount of storage space and bandwidth. While it will be fine for a while I think it will run out reasonable fast as more and more content will go on the website.

My Idea is to host the bigger files (All .zip files for people to download) some where else and simply have a link to them on the website as I would have anyway.

This will obviously solve the problem of limited storage space, but will it also help to use less bandwidth? Or would hosting them with Webs not have used much anyway?

If that external backup on your '09 was created using Time Machine, it will simply move everything to the new computer...apps and all...without you needing to think twice about it. In fact on starting up the new iMac, you will be asked if you want to migrate data from another computer or source and a Time Machine backup is one of the options.

If you backup was created through other means, TM may not be able to copy everything over and you may have to install some apps from disc.

(You didn't specifically say if the previous backup of the '09 was done with TM. I assume, but just want to be sure. )

awesome! Yeah I have always used Time Machine and have updates done every few days for over the past year and half. That would be amazing if its an easy transfer. I've never used Time Machine other than backing up, but it reads to me like it should be a no hassle way to update my new computer to what I'm using now with the old one.

Yet another thread started by someone too lazy to do a search!
    impatience and laziness.

In all seriousness, its more stupidity. It takes more time and effort to start your own thread and wait for people to answer than it does to simply google.

They asked the right question about LTE -- just didn't get the answer I wanted to hear.

but what do you expect? For them to say "Yes, we LOVE LTE and we can't wait to show you our new iPhone with LTE!"...

    ... if only.

I never use the ICON method. I only use the Bundles Method. here's a quick walkthru:
First use a program like iFile (iphone), Iphone Browser (desktop) or AppInfo (app) to find the info. I prefer Iphone Browser when working themes but iFile does the trick well just slower.

    Drill down to:
/var/mobile/Applications (used for App Store app's)
/var/stash/Applications (used for Cydia Store app's)

for both, click on your app, i'll give an example for BiteSMS:
drill down to the correct folder stated above, click on:
    biteSMS.app
scroll down to Info.plist, click to view and look for:
    CFBundleIdentifier: used for Folder Name
CFBundleIconFiles: used for icon name, there may be multiple here but for IP4 use the "@2x" one.

Now that you have that info you'll need to create a subfolder inside the Bundles folder of your theme's Directory in Winterboard found at:
    /var/stash/Themes

I turned on my Mac this morning and double clicked the Firefox icon but I did it twice by accident and it said "You can only open one Firefox at once" and made me click "Close" and then I was never able to reopen Firefox again
When you upgraded, did it put your previous version in the trash? If so, move it out of there and launch that version. Or you could use Safari to download the previous version on Firefox.

Meh. I doubt it was ever very high on the MS priority list...

Maybe just slightly more important than a new version of Minesweeper.

I sold my iPad 1 which was jailbroken on 4.2.1. Since buying my iPad 2 the jailbreak is biggest thing I miss. I'm staying on 4.3 until we know which version the jailbreak will work on!

I believe dev team has their hands full getting the 4.3.1 jailbreak working properly across all devices (e.g. 1 bar issue on ip4). Once that's squared away, they may begin devoting more attention to the iPad 2. Still on 4.3 hoping for the best!

The base 27" last week was a 3.2 ghz i3... You sure your details are right?

the base i3 was 5900+ 32 bit and 6650+ 64 bit (geekbench scores)

    5950 to 7950 32 bit
    6650 to 8625 64 bit

for the same price seems like a nice upgrade to me.

    NOW there was an upgrade from the 3.2 i3 to a 3.6 i5 dual...if I remember correctly.

I Have font doctor on my laptop macbook pro 17" 2.93 ghz 2duo latest os with updates.

I have been having problems with font doctor 7.7

I have at least 4 gigs of fonts on a drive.
Problem #1: Font doctor does not complete its task when I run the whole folder. Problem # 2 if I run font doctor on individual small folders within my font folder some font folders get complete repairs some folders do not ( lags on last task and does not complete).
Problem#3 does not complete task on organizing fonts if i try

Does anyone know of a good alternative to font repair and organization latest software?
