I'm curious as to how the fifth avenue turn out was. This is the first big event at this store that I missed. I was there for its opening day and the iPhone launch. Both were amazing. I just don't see the need to buy leapord right now because I plan on buying a new mac within the year.

They give out tickets at Best Buy to avoid having you stand in line for the last hour I guess lol. They should just hand those tickets out at 10AM.
lol no joke. I guess it's the thought that counts

Thanks, but I was not able to find anything on how long the battery is capable of lasting. If I recall correctly, my first battery lasted at least 4 hours (possibly longer). I do not have too many programs running - at least not much more then initially.

And to the poster that asked, I hear 4.3.1 is shipping out on new units.
I can confirm this. Apple store units from March 27 and newer have it. Prior to that I'm not sure. Walmart\Target units from March 30 and newer have 4.3.1 as well. Unsure about BBY or other retail.

Apparently there won't be a Quicken '08 for the Mac. It has been replaced by a new app that looks pretty slick. See the link below for more info.

I apologise if I'm breaking your "rules" but I,m talking about the divide between charity i.e. helping those that are in dire need of help, they receive around 10% of U.S. charitable donations and the self serving tax racket with which the rich provide for them and theirs, the other 90%.In your somewhat confusing posts it appears it's OK to give to your own economic class for selfish reasons but not apparently to vote for a government which will pass legislation favouring your economic class. Incidentally by talking of lower and middle classes you are referring to social class not as should be apparent to most people economic classes. Also please refrain from quoting a romantic novelist in what should be a serious discussion.
I'm an individualist, I don't believe in 'social' classes, and use economic classes in general discourse only because it's useful in political discussion to be able to use generalizations in order to make conversation efficient and worthwhile. I believe individuals in a healthy free market generally determine their own fate.
I'd be interested in hearing more about your 90% vs. 10% numbers. Can you provide sources and clarify your position?

Blizzard,
Thanks for the advice! :) I am using Safari so I don't know what it's limits are, but I have seen paste limits in Firefox before, but not in Safari.

I made and saved a preset seems to work pretty good. Changed the RF setting to "1". It seems that its working better with this setting. Still sometimes when using iTunes it gets a little blocky only at first, but not through VLC player. It might be an issue with iTunes. Otherwise this setting seems to work pretty good. Ty for the advice, I'm still open to more if anyone has any.

No matter what message board about mobile phones that you might stumble across, it's always the same story: Europe has a better system. I'm *still* waiting for someone to elaborate on what the N. American providers aren't providing.
I have 3G service for my laptop. I'm sorry I signed up even though I'm not the one paying for it. Wi-fi service has become so ubiquitous that 3G is hardly needed if all you're using it for is web browsing and e-mail. Is there anything else it's useful for that people actually want?
By the way, it's Deutche Telekom that's last to the 3G party in N. America.

It's always funny to see stuff like this. The same person says:
"I think it will be out soon"
"I don't think it will be out soon"
"There's no way to know when it'll be out"
So how do you say you think it will, won't, and don't know? I'd recommend that if you don't have an affirmative or a negative answer, don't speculate. It's very confusing for those new to jailbreaking to see people who have zero ties to the developers whatsoever chiming in saying they think there will be a short term or distant term release. If you don't have FIRST HAND knowledge, don't speculate without providing evidence of how you came to make such statement.
Signed,

I agree. It is annoying hearing the same people chime in with no ties to the developers. At least post a link if you know something we don't know. Otherwise, they need to stop with the personal opinions.

Go look at Pages; Word's been the "standard" for years and Pages can write Word documents. I'm sure if Lasso, Numbers, Charts, etc. will also be able to save in Excel documents. I believe AppleWorks can, and if this is a step up, and since the world has moved a little more, there should be no problem with Excel and Apple's new application.
There are still two problems:
1) While Pages and Keynote may be exported to Word and Powerpoint, it is not flawless. When working with word documents and presentations small changes may not matter significantly, but when dealing with numbers, there is ZERO room for error.
2) Pages and Keynote (and it seems the "Lasso") are all targeted at the non-experienced computer user. Unfortunately, for the most part, that is the exact opposite audience who use spreadsheets.

built in isight & ir receiver
If they had them, and consequently added probably $100 or more to the price of the display, would you actually commit to buying one... today?
& i'm sure folks want faster reaction time better graphics capabilities
Possibly, but that's a limitation on LCD tech in general which will get better with time, but Apple LCD's at present are probably among the best computer LCD displays available. I don't know what else you'd do until the tech itself improves... except to say this: Those who are really serious about color, clarity and contrast should stick to CRT's for the time being. Nothing beats a Trinitron in this arena.
& somewhere, someone wants it glossy
Probably... but the greater likelihood is that graphic designers who tend to buy the higher end Apple LCD's don't. Matte displays are far better for accurate color and contrast. Glossy displays falsely enrich the image, which is a problem if you're trying to maintain a color match from prepress to proof.

Other Web sites such as Westpac and Citibank -- which use browsers as a conduit for online transactions -- have similar restrictions.
Interesting, I use Westpac (although I'm in NZ, not Australia), and I haven't had any problems whatsoever with Safari.

If perl -V is still trying to invoke /opt/local/bin/perl it's because bash still has that lookup cached. Either run hash -r or simply close the current Terminal window and open a new one.
But if neither of these work, perhaps /usr/bin/perl as been overwritten. What is the output of ls -ld /usr/bin/perl? For me it this,
~$ ls -ld /usr/bin/perl
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 86000 24 Jun 2009 /usr/bin/perl

thanks, but one thing: for my model it says 'point at 4.3.2 firmware image' - I'm assuming I can download the firmware from here (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=14568) and use that, even though I never downloaded 4.3.2 via itunes?

So Intel's graphics are good enough for the 13" MBP that can support an external 30" display, but not for the MBA? Most LV/ULV Sandy Bridge cpus have the same HD3000 graphics as regular Core i5/i7 cpus used in the MBP. Sure they are clocked slightly lower, but it is probably already the case for the 320M.
I don't see how Thunderbolt will hurt for external drives. If anything you'll get access to faster drives (RAID HDD, SSD (http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10549)) it's better than what you can today with only USB2 ports.
I mean that the iteration of Thunderbolt will hurt for me, by getting a MBA now with out it.
The HD3000 is slightly less powerful than the 320m GPU. So with a higher resolution display on the MBA the HD3000 would perform worse than the 320m currently does? This is my thinking and why I think Apple didn't increase the resolution of the current MBA instead of suffering a major decrease in GPU performance. I'm thinking that the Intel graphics performance will degrade much quicker at higher resolutions than the Nvidia does.
