Yes first post. VPN is VPN. setup it up and see if it works. If you go abroad you will most likely need proxy server since ABC and netflix apps are not home specific like cablevision app

no idea on your system, but have a g3 powerbook (pismo) that has not had a pram battery in it for about the last 7-8 years, and works just fine. i put a script to sync the clock in the startup folder, and i've never had a problem.
i think for what you're going to use it for, it will work fine. best of luck.

Not anytime soon, Apple's shipping the cinema displays with Leopard as desktop on the boxing now.
So do the MBP boxes still have Tiger displayed on them?

A great place for shows. I use it for guster.
Regarding FLAC, if all you want to do is add to iTunes, if you don't want to sync them with your iPod, then download a app called Fluke. It modifies something-or-other's libraries, but long story short is you can play FLAC in iTunes

I'm trying to work this out from the Apple site but am banging my head against a brick wall.
My friend at work is wanting to buy a Mac and some other bits from Apple for his kids to use. One is at Junior School and one at Secondary School..... do they qualify for the Educational Discount??
Everything I see on the Apple website says "I'm over 18..."
Thanks,
Sreedy
If know one knows then I guess I'll ring them.
Online, I think you can only get into the edu part of the store from a verified education server/computer, i.e. one from a school.
Not sure about the process in store for kids.

Go with 32bit, as you say, since you only have 2GB, 64 bit would be a waste as it can take advantage of 4GB and more, it can use less however, but I think it would be better for you to go with 32bit. Are you doing it in a virtual machine?
thanks for advice !!!
Sorry I have another question .. Can I use the upgrade version of Windows 7 for the installation??
I also found this website and I think this person use upgrade license and successfully installed it (?)

I am a novice to OS X and have two questions involving sound files.
1. At work (system 9) I can save sound files to my desk top. I double-click on them and they sound instantly. With OS X (what I have at home), when I click on a wav, mpg3 or snd file, iTunes opens and plays the sound. Highly annoying! And what's worse, THEN iTunes starts playing everything in its inventory after it plays the sound. Is there any way to create a sound file I can double-click on without opening up an application?
2. Some sites have sounds that I'd love to download. But I can save them only as Quick Time Movies (yes, MOVIES!). In other words, when I click on "save as," I am forced to save them this way. So needless to say, when I click on these icons on my desk top, they don't play, and I get a window saying "The movie file [say, Orig_0000818e.IETemp] cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly," followed by "Couldn't open the file [name of file] because an unknown error occured. The number of the error is: [say, 128]." How can I save/convert a Quick Time movie file containing a piece of audio to something that I can save on my desktop and double-click on?
I just want to click on a sound icon and hear it immediately. Why is this so difficult?
Thanks to anyone who can help me!
P.S. I tried using something I downloaded called Sound App. But it was only operable in 9. When I realized it, I trashed it, as I didn't want to convert to 9 every time I opened it. Now I use something called SoundConverter. But that doesn't help with my two problems above.

Ah, I think this is the issue I'm having! I also want to jailbreak and unlock. Does anyone know where I'd find the iPad baseband files for a 3GS on 4.3.2 running 05.16.02? Thanks in advance!

If they put it on that is a huge plus. I ordered something similar were you have to spray and squeegee. It ended up in the trash after 15 minutes
I recently purchased and installed the black icarbon with much better success. I like the look and feel. It has a bottom cover as well but I did not take a picture of that.:apple::D

They sounded pretty crappy. I might just have good ears--I can tell the difference between CD and vinyl--but that was an unacceptable loss of quality. I ended up re-ripping everything.
Some people notice these sorts of things. I used to download MP3s from Napster (remember Napster? :p) and make standard audio CDs from them. I could then rip the CD into MP3, and I couldn't tell the difference.
The other day I was listening to some 192k MP3s and they sounded fine. Then I listened to a proper CD, then back to the MP3s and they suddenly sounded terrible! I guess the "purer" sound of the CD made the MP3s sound worse or something.

Hi, need a little help from the web guru's.
So my site has a gallery page, with a bunch of images. I've used css to get border-radius, reflections, etc. The css reflections however don't render in all browsers, Firefox being the most important one. So as a graceful degradation I added a box-shadow to make the images look better in Firefox/Opera. Comparing Safari and Firefox/Opera, this works perfectly - reflection / no shadow in Safari, and shadow / no reflection in Firefox/Opera.
Google Chrome on the other hand, even though it uses webkit decides to render the box-shadow despite there being no -webkit- prefix. Is there any way to have the box-shadow display in FF/O but not in Chrome? The shadow kind of ruins the reflection.
The website is temporarily hosted here - costantini.mw gallery (http://f3-preview.host-ed.net/costantini.mw/Gallery/gallery.html)
While we're at it, the site is unfinished but some feedback on other pages and the design would be appreciated.
Cheers guys,
Stef

If you have spare $99 bugs, I'd say go for it.
Otherwise: NO.
That's the bottom line. You're dropping a c-note on a developer preview. If you want spend that much money to play around with go for it. In the past (except for SL) upgrades were costing around 125 so in theory you could save some money if apple follows that path. If they don't, you run the potential of over-paying for the OS

Maybe sell the parts (SSD an MBP) separately.
Mac2Sell (http://www.mac2sell.net), Gazelle (http://www.gazelle.com) or eBay (Việt Nam (http://chodientu.vn/ebay), Trkiye (http://www.gittigidiyor.com/), Česk republika (http://www.eim.ebay.cz/), Hanguk (http://www.auction.co.kr/default.html)) might be good price checkers.

Hi, I am trying to help someone that is a newbie on a G5 Tower 10.5.8 who wants to watch some avi films.
I only started with a MBP when I bought my recent one 1.5 years ago.
Before that i was on windows and could fix most things but i am unfamiliar with Macs of that age.
I was telling him to download VLC assuming he had a newer one until he told me the error message, that his architecture wasnt right, at which point i asked him for his OS number and discovered how old it was.
Bearing in mind i am dealing with someone who has very little tech experience, I dont want him to get frustrated which he will easily do so I want to check my facts before passing them on to him.
I understand VLC had an issue with 10.5.8 if I read this page and do another quick search on Google.
http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=82230
So I may have to tell him to download a compatible VLC and hopefully at worst lead him through he fix on this page to get it working.
If anyone is familiar with this and can offer advice beforehand, I would be grateful.
Otherwise, is there another program that plays .avi formats on an earlier Mac, such as 10.5.8, preferably one that doesn't have to download codecs.
I want to make this as easy as possible for him.
If any other such programs can be used, please let me know what they might be
TIA

Hi,
I'm thinking about getting one of those dell 20" widescreen lcd's or even the 24" if it comes down in price. I'd like to use it as a companion to my 15"pb and also as a TV when I go to Law School.
If I have either: 1) a tivo or 2) a digital cable box
can I just plug either of those into the monitor and have a "TV"?
Obviously I don't have a tv tuner card with my PB...and would rather have the monitor be self-sufficient and be able to record show on my tivo/pvr when I'm out studying and still be able to hook up the PB when I'm home and do PIP.
Any suggestions? I'm lost when it comes to what's need to run a tv on a computer monitor!
Thanks
