Yeah, I read both links but still don't really know what's going on haha. All I know is that it is for a good cause, so I'm down. Plus, their not testing on animals so it's a big plus for me.

Hey thanks for the information
I've just checked out the scanner you suggested, and odly enough (or maybe not that odd) its twice the price in the uk as it is in the USA. The cheapest I could find it for was 299 (roughtly$530) from a communications company I used to work for. I should be able to get a discount of 20% because I still know guys who work there.
The only thing that concerns me is that it says its only windows compatible. I've had a look at the system requirments on several websites, and on every one it says windows only.

Centris 660av, PowerMac 6100, Performa 6116, Quadra 660av, same form factor. These have been desirable systems in the past, but good luck selling a machine with no hard drive.

It is possible to have the songs in two formats on iTunes, although I don't know how Sonos would deal with it.
I know iTunes can definitely do it. Not sure about sonos.
Thanks :)
I would like to isolate the songs I have and use on my Iphone 4 32GB into one separate folder/directory - so that I know these songs are for my Iphone ONLY, meaning they won't contain any lossless files, which takes up too much space on my 32 GB limited Iphone 4 music player.
Is this possible ?
I could in theory have my full music folder on my 2 TB Time Capsule for my Sonos and then have the music I only use for my Iphone on my internal HDD drive in my iMac...... maybe this is the solution, so the music does not get mixed up !?!

Hello,
I have a Studiologic Numa which connects via USB. For some reason when I connect the USB cable it powers on the keyboard but mac does not recognize it at all, and Audio Midi Setup is useless when I ask it to rescan midi. This is a brand new macbook pro running Snow Leopard. Oddly enough, it works fine with my old macbook running Leopard. As far as I know my USB port works fine, as I've tried with both ports and they seem to work well with my external hard drives. I have also tried to change the USB cable to no avail
Any ideas?

There's not that many SSD's out yet that can exceed a 3.0Gb/s controller (most reach sustained sequential throughputs of ~250MB/s or so, and 3.0Gb/s is good for ~270 -275MB/s), so you don't need to panic over this.
You won't be able to do this. :(
Boot Camp doesn't work with RAID (hardware or software). So you'll have to use a single disk on the ICH (no need to run the Boot Camp utility, as it's a partition tool). The BC disk does include Windows drivers however (setup.exe), so you may need to run those, particularly for wireless drivers.
You can place the OS X disk either on the ICH or RAID card (flash the firmware, set the disk as the boot location).
The only difference between them is the amount of over-provisioning (additional capacity used for wear leveling; 7% for the Pro series, 28% for the RAID Edition series).
There doesn't seem to be any other differences (same controller and firmware timings from what I can tell). Both have been used successfully in stripe sets on both the ICH and hardware RAID cards. So if you're doing more reads than writes, the Pro series would be fine. If you're going to do a lot of writing (massive amounts of data), then the RE series may be the way to go. Another trick, is not to fill the SSD up all the way.
1.0 meter SFF-8087 to SFF-8088 cable (http://www.pc-pitstop.com/sas_cables_adapters/8887-1M.asp)
:( Oh well. I suppose the 6G mercury still outperforms it's 3G predecessor even on a SATA2 controller ? You reckon it's worth putting a 6G Mercury on the Areca controller where I assume it should really shine or stick both on the onboard sata2 controller and reduce complexity.
This bootcamp disk, I am suppose to burn it using the bootcamp utility or is it included ? This is really my first mac you see, hence all these trivial questions about bootcamp and dual booting.
So bootcamp is just a partitioning and driver preparation/injection? utility. Where as in my case I am using two different SSD's and not sharing one with OSX. Hence bootcamp is of no real purpose to me other than the drivers it has for Win7. So I can just stick a win7 dvd in and boot off the thing by holding option key and selecting the superdrive to boot from and Windows 7 setup will start ? And once setup finishes I just stick the bootcamp diver cd in and install the drivers or do I have to provide them during Windows 7 setup ?

I am looking for a KVM switch with a very specific set of features and haven't really been able to find one, but maybe you guys (or girls) will be able to help me out. I am looking for a 4 port switch with audio, mouse and keyboard (USB prefered, but could be P2/2 and I'll use an adapter), at least one USB port if it is PS/2, and of course video.
My main dillema is that I can't find something with both USB and audio. I have also scoped out ebay and found some cheap ones that do USB and other ones that can do audio. I could always just have two switches. Any advice against buying electronics on ebay? (I use ebay a good bit, but not for electronics).
Anyone have any suggestions. (oh my setup is that I have a mac, pc, and linux machines and only one set of peripherals and would like to easily swap between the three sharing all the same stuff).

So the article mentions backing up your Library as a new feature included in iTunes 7. I don't really see it anywhere, anyone know what they're talking about?
Obviously I could just copy the library and folder myself (since I keep the library consolidated), but it would be nice to know how to do this directly from iTunes.
See this (http://www.tuaw.com/2006/09/12/how-to-back-up-your-music-using-itunes-7/)

Happy Birthday Bloated Jake!
I used to be a big fan of the classic iPod Then, like many people I guess, I finally got my hands on an iPhone and never looked back. The iPod Touch (we own two in our family, in addition to iPhones) is hands-down a more exciting device than the Classic in every way. You may not think yourself 'much into apps and stuff' now, but I'll wager if you get one, you'll soon find yourself doing more with the device than you first imagined. I think it's that kind of experience for most people.
Of course, you need to make sure you have the storage capacity for your music collection. I only have a 16GB iPhone, and it's just not big enough to store all my music and apps. I certainly wouldn't bother with the 8 GB Touch, but the 32 and 64 GB options might be worth looking at.

I own a Macbook pro and find it near impossible to install Applications downloaded from websites like HANDANGO and the like.
It is impossible. You need to run Windows on the Mac to install them.

Thats the difference between a website and forum. You can say it in 3 lines but they cannot. Anyways! We are talking about the iPad 2 jailbreak not about who is writing what. And i am excited about iPad 2 jailbreak and also about geohot ;)

Whoohoo! One of the first replies!
I'm watching the webcast now... already updated iTunes and looks very coool so far!
And... OMG... Steve's wearing a black dress shirt instead of a turtleneck!
Anybody know if the new iPod search features are going to work for existing iPods? So far I can't find it on my 60G that I just also updated...
Has anyone else had problems playing back the video? It keeps cutting out audio on me!

It will be this year. Most likely WWDC, along with a new refreshed, redesigned Nehalem Mac Pro (no kidding, another one will be out then). Don't listen to the others. I think Apple is holding off till this date.

iPhone to "borrow" from Disney Mobile's (http://disneymobile.go.com/) GPS Enabled Family Locator(TM)
http://www.globalhempstore.com/images/disney-mobile-family-locator.jpg
The Disney Mobile phone is a family-oriented phone service. Apple's upcoming "iPhone" will of course be marketing to the masses. However, some features will most likely be "borrowed" from Disney Mobile and of course built-upon / improved, such as Family Locator(TM).
After viewing the following, you should notice a that Apple's iChat and iPhone will be nearly one and the same! So, rather than locate your kids, your kids become your Buddy List. The Buddy List will be organized into groups: family, work, friends, etc. In addition, Apple could fairly easily implement more into the mapping feature, such as nearby Apple stores, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.
In additon, Disney Mobile has downloadable extras such as:
- Ringtones
- Images
- Themes
- Games -- think new iPod Games!
- Movies.com Movie Finder: $2.99/mo subscription service with movie info, times, locate theater, etc... all or which could be integrated with mapping service to actually locate the closest theater.. heck, even someday purchase tickets via your mobile phone or even make reservations at restaurants such as Chili's with your iPhone!
From Disney Mobile Web site:
Family Locator allows you to locate your kid's phone with GPS technology and display a map of the location.
First Select Menu
Then, select Family Center
Then press OK
Scroll to Family Locator
Then press OK
The first you you use the service, you'll be required to enter your PIN, then agree to the terms of service...
Select the kid's phone you wish to locate
Enter your PIN
Press OK
The application begins to search... the following results are displayed:
Joey is near:
1231 Any Streer
Los Angeles, CA
- Accuracy 10 yards
After receiving an address, you can access an area map to get a better view of the location of your child's phone.
From the location page... select Map.
An area map will appear with a shaded circle indicating the reported location and accuracy range.
Use the NAV KEY to view surrounding area.
Then you can zoom in and out... by pressing ZOOM.
Select a different zoom level by using the NAV KEY
This feature is also available on the web which allows you to locate your kid's phone with GPS technology and display a map right from your computer without using your phone.
Google Maps are already available for mobile phone: Just visit www.google.com/gmm (http://www.google.com/gmm) on your mobile or desktop web browser.
