I guess when you line up might depend on what model you want. Example; 16GB wifi will go out fast but they probably have more in stock..
I don't need one friday, but I'm wondering if friday night or saturday morning they'll still have a 16GB Verizon model and how long the wait would be to get in and purchase one.
Has anyone called the store to ask details of the launch?

A refurb is a unit that has been returned to Apple e.g. a DOA unit. The unit is repaired and thoroughly checked by a Apple tech and then sold again. It's a good way to buy a second hand unit as you get it cheaper than new, but still get the standard 1 year warranty with the option to buy AppleCare to extend the warranty to 3 years.

It has a built in sound processor to create the 7.1. It only has a usb connection. Heres a link to it.

I can do 7.1 with games, VLC, and the Audio Midi Setup in utilities. But for some reason iTunes doesn't recognize it as a divice it can play surround through. Even though the mac itself seems to understand it... Thanks.

Is it possible that there's a bad connection to the speakers? It sounds like you can only hear audio through headphones... in which case, audio could in fact be being rerouted to the speakers when headphones are unplugged, but broken speakers=no sound. eh?

Aloha dejo,
All I know is that an NDA statement was on the email I received from Apple. In my response, I asked why the information was under NDA. I mean, Xcode 4 is available to the masses, right? I don't understand why configurations would be something to be protected. I have yet to hear back from them, however.
Of course, this was directly below the signature, so it could have been a standard line put on all emails from the developer support office. If I get a response, I'll post it here (if the you or the other mods haven't locked it by then :D). I think it's really good information, and it pointed out something that was not made clear by any of the other documentation I read. That, or I'm just a little dense :D
I thought it was interesting that it started out by stating that the information was for Xcode 4, but the first document mentioned was for Xcode 3
EDIT: One thing not covered in the email response from Apple was with respect to the Keys section of Keychain Access. I still only have one private key, and apparently only associated with the Developer Certificate. In the My Certificates section, however, I see both my Developer and Distribution Certificates, both associated with a private key. I still think it's strange, but the app I submitted is sitting in the "waiting for review" queue.

Im deciding on new speakers for my iPod, which will also be streaming music from my Airport Express when not playing music from my iPod.

Can anyone help me decide?

Hi everybody,
this is probably a question better asked on a Microsoft forum, but I fear to go to such places. ;)
So here's my dilemma... About year ago I bought a retail version of Windows 7 64-bit Professional and installed it on a Bootcamp partition of my 17" MacBook Pro. Then a month ago, in preparation for a house move/immigration, I decided to sell the machine and thus wiped the HD clean and reformatted and reinstalled OSX but left off the W7 partition, deciding to keep that myself.
However, the sale didn't go through and now the MBP is boxed up and in transit to my destination address. As is my W7 install disc...
So I find myself here, with a new Mac laptop, wanting/needing to install W7 once again (to run my license of Autodesk Softimage). Thankfully I added the W7 serial number to my 'Key chain' so I still have access to it. The question thus becomes; Is there some way to install W7 without having access to my original install disc? Can I download the install software somewhere? And how do I go about activating my license on my new machine?
Thanks for reading! :)

I'm going to be heading down to BB on 2100 South in a few. Are you (alfmoonspace) still the only lonely person in line?
I'm driving in from Battle Mountain, NV, I'll be to BB in under a hour.

Hi
Sorry this is a rookie problem
When I upload my site using dw it uses the original images and file locations rather than the server relative addresses like this :
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<link href="file:///Macintosh HD/Users/David/commissions/currentwork/finals for colin debug/htmldream/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
<script type="text/JavaScript">

Is there a preference or something I should be pressing ??
Thanks
David

This has happened to be before, and it was after I downloaded something from cydia that the iPod crashed and couldn't be recognized, then I turned it back on, deleted the newly downloaded package, and everything was fine. Hope this helps!
Thanks, Ill try that later.

When I go to bed, I do a shut down.
While you may shut down whenever you like, it's not necessary. Using sleep mode is perfectly fine.
I have been advised that it is “better the computer” to go into Preferences>Energy Saver and set sleep to “never”, as battery conservation is not an issue
Also not necessary. You can set sleep preferences for when you walk away, and temporarily override them with Caffeine (http://lightheadsw.com/caffeine/).
(alway on A/C power).
It's not a good idea to always be on AC power. Your battery needs to be used/cycled to stay healthy. For details, see the AC POWER section of the following link.
Which is “better for the computer”–to put it to sleep after each use, or to leave it running all the time until bedtime shut down.
Either is fine.
This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Well, let's say you are working on a Mac (bless you) and all your co-workers are using a PC. Suddenly, you have to work on the same documents (like a .doc, a .ppt or a .xls) Call it "incompatibility"...
I don't like MS but a lot of peoples (over 90%) still do...
Well, Pages can open and edit and save .doc files, and Keynote can do the same with .ppt files.
But formatting and the such can be an issue. NeoOffice/OpenOffice handles .doc and .ppt formatting better, from what I hear. I've never used OpenOffice extensively, so I wouldn't know.

Hmm.. Just remember that, while the technologies Apple may use in a cell phone will not be new or novel in themselves, their execution and use will be.
There were MP3 players before the iPod, it was the execution of the technology, not th technology itself...
That and plus the fact Apple knows how to market the hell out of their products.

T-Mobile in my area rents its airtime on Cingular's network. This is coming from 2 friends, one who works for T-Mobile and one works Cingular
You really do need to get out more :) It's called roaming coverage. If they don't cover an area they roam on another carrier if there is a roaming agreement. T-Mobile (and cingular for that matter) do not operate in Canada and if you want to use your service in Canada you roam on the ROGERS network. T-Mobile doesn't have service in parts of Maine and VermontThey roam on Unicel. In Wisconsin T-Mobile roams in certain places on Einstein PCS. It's no big deal. All carriers roam on other carriers' networks. Alltell roams on Verizon. Sprint roams on Verizon in some places.
