When MS bought vPC I figured that was the beginning of the end. They have a history of destroying great Mac products.

Enabling FTP passive mode usually fixes this type of problem for me.
Active mode dictates the FTP server opens the data channel back to the client for the data transfer.

Active mode usually fails due to firewalls. The PORT command is the opening of this data channel. In the port command below, is your IP (the client) 10.0.1.2?

Going right after school with my $100 store credit from the iPhone and $30 cash. Should get there around 2:30, maybe a little later, to the Montgomery Mall MD store. Hopefully the line won't be too long, I really want the t-shirt since I haven't got any Apple shirts right now and I have to be outta there by 6:30 for a pretty important dinner party (I'd miss it, but you know... :S) Interesting though that there isn't a meetup thing for the Montgomery Mall store.
PLEASE GOD DON'T GET THERE BEFORE ME NOW!!! lol :P

I like the way the TrimSleeve looks and I like how it has the "easy pull out tab" thing but I don't like how leaves some of the MBA exposed. Also I need a case right away because I take my MBA to class everyday so I went ahead and bought the Pixelsleeve from Amazon today. I had a $10 credit so I only paid $22 after 1 day shipping. It'll be here tomorrow, I'm looking forward to seeing how it is. I'll post pics and impressions when it comes tomorrow.

No, they were out of all white 3g all carriers. They still had a few Verizon black ones though.
I'm pretty sure that they are selling out tonight, but good luck if you try for one tomorrow. They may still have black wifis.

Hello,
on an art-television-channel I saw an article about a Finnish Science Fiction movie comedy.
the plot: 1945, the nazis send a rocket to the moon. On the dark side of the moon they built a colony and come back 2018 to capture the world.
Sounds like a b-movie/trash-movie, but I think it could be fun (and I like hilarious trash movies some time).
unfortunately the teaser does not rise a lot interest (my opinion), but there is a good critique article, unfortunately it is in german. Maybe you can find an article in finnish or english via google somewhere.

teaser: http://www.ironsky.net/
better teaser (English with german subtitle): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRZu-_0EHGI
It has an interesting financial aspect. One can lend his/her money and if the movie makes profit, you get your money back with a plus. (Very unsecure, but one fan said, he had a better feeling losing all his money on a film, instead of investing in a firm, that will close in the cause of the financial crisis. An idealistic approach for people loving strange things of movie art ;)
They have earned a third of the actual production costs it says in the article, till now. Movie will start in europe in 2012.

The best of the best would be your Mac's clock widget.Open two of them and set one to Cupertino. When it's 9am in Cupertino....Well you get the gist.;)
BUt then you have to wait until 9AM to find out the times.

This will just be a metadata field embedded in the EXIF data of cameraphone photos taken by iPhone users that have paid for the GPS service.
When you sync your iPhone up with you mac later on, the images will be put into iPhoto and through that will be able to link to GoogleEarth.
Since the "camera" will be the cell phone's built-in camera (with stunning 1/4" lens, I'm sure), the quality of the images will make this a novelty feature. Add to that the complexities of international cell phone access charges and GPS service, and the Mac-only limitation of the GoogleEarth connection (unless Apple also announces iLife for Windows, and it's free, or at least iPhoto is free).
Meh

Hmm, I dunno. If it makes you feel any better though I just ordered 2 Ipod Nanos for both myself and my Mrs. So even if there IS a refresh, and you go ahead and buy one now, so what ey? The Ipods that we have today are incredible and they hold an incredibly large amount of songs, so you can just wait and see what happens or pick one up now and still guaranteed to not feel disappointed.
Oh and happy birthday : )

lol 1 last question is is it 1 cable or do i have to buy the adapter? i looked online for just one cable but i keep getting the adapter instead of 1 cord. but my guess is that you have a regular optical cord then plug the 1 end into the adapter? :S
It is one cable, as shown here:

Now the Mac app store is up and moving along with Apples own iLife suite apps, would people prefer buying them separately from the app store. or buying the retail box. ?You ignore a third alternative--purchase a digital download from a third-party developer. Most developers, including Adobe and Microsoft, have their mainline applications available for download. Rarely ever do I purchase the "retail box." Why? Ask yourself how many users have lost their distribution discs for this or that software package.
If you want to purchase a package and then sell the disc on eBay, then I can understand your dishonesty. For the honest among us, the disc and its packaging are not needed in most cases:

Take it back! They'll replace the KB Assy without issue. If you have access to a store, it'll take about an hour, tops. If you continue to use it, and not do anything they'll take it as normal wear/tear, and won't be able to do much...

Hello there!
I set up a mac mini server for my little company a few months ago and I find it to be overkill for the simple tasks I use it for. Originally I planned to setup a web hosting service, an email server and a wiki but our needs didn't grow as I expected and we found simpler alternatives.
Anyway, I am now thinking about selling it but I was wondering if it was simple to transfer the Mac OS X Server license. I can't seem to find info online on how to do this and I don't want to sell a product which won't easily be usable.
Any tips on doing this?
Thanks!

So, now Zune software is gonna compete with Windows Phone 7?
I thought the same thing. They can't just pull the plug when they've poured so many millions into it; It's a bad idea, just cut your losses and move forward. Don't keep trying to keep a bad brand alive.
Granted, I am in a way sorry to see it go. That Zune HD really did look cool. I almost wanted to buy one. Almost.

I've got an iBook G4 1.2 and use FCP on it. In fact, FCP HD. If you know your way around the FCP's Media Manager, you can compress your DV footage down to something the iBook can handle. It won't look as good, but for straight editing with no effects and so forth, it works terrifically. Then you transfer your edit "file" back to a faster machine (in my case, a G4 dual 533) and do all your uncompressed DV renders in there.
So my answer is this, yes, the iBook can handle FCP if you:
1) Don't use exotic effects -- just straight edits
2) Use Media Manager to compress your DV footage to smaller, faster files
3) Use another, faster machine to handle the full-on rendering of the original, uncompressed footage
Now, having said that, I've used the same technique on an iBook G3 600 ("son of Pismo") with the same great results. On that machine, it TOTALLY maxes out the processor, but it still works.
Hope that helped...
