Wow! NeoOffice loses it at line 20. Even with parentheses like this: '=(A1*6)-1'

Have newly acquired similar poor performance with full screen hulu on the family's mac mini (9400 video).
Only fix I have figured out that works for me was installing the older FireFox 3.6.xx (right along with FF4) and with the older FF, full screen flash works as it did in the past, i.e. Great.
Try it and let me know if this workd for you.

Make sure you're using iTunes 4. Anything before that doesn't support AAC files. Once you have iTunes 4, go into the preferences, under the Importing button and choose AAC. As for the track names, it's not iTunes that recognizes it or not, it's the CDDB, a database which is accessed over the internet, meaning that your computer must be connected to the internet for it to pull up track titles and such. Good luck.

On both of my mac's I'm having an assortment of problems with 10.3.7. Problems, I haven't had before. Yes, I have fixed permissions, etc., etc., yadda-yadda and all that. This is the very last time that I ever upgrade both at the same time (something I have never done before) - puts me out of work.
On one machine my fonts are messed up and after extensive attempts to sort out the duplicate fonts it's still not being resolved. Of course, this wreaks havoc on everything else as well...
On another machine...iTunes is now unusable. Intermittent freezes, hanging the system up...sheesh...
Yeah, sure...I've been reading support files all over the place and nothing is working. I don't like the prospect of reinstalling the OS...
Anybody else having similar problems?

The whole resolution independance thing terrifies me. I just know we'll see some vendor or Apple have these annoying huge UI's that we can't shrink back down to their proper size. I mean the reason we buy this huge monitors is to shrink the UI and maximize free space right???

Yes, and that got me looking for a link to "contribute." But I couldn't find one. :D
What happened to the positive/negative rating system? Did its value go from worthless to pathetically useless?
Still, I liked the ratings, it gave an overall sense to the story (sometimes).
Besides that, A+ on the site so far.

You're confusing size in inches with size in pixels. The problem you're worried about won't happen.

A lot of the time stories are given negative ratings for absolute no reason and the ratings don't serve their purpose very well. I personally think either the ratings system should be removed all together or there should only be a "like"/"positive" option.
This has been brought up before and it hasn't happened yet. Positive/Negative ratings are highly subjective. For example, "Microsoft to Relaunch Windows Slates Again at CES." Some people might vote negative because they don't support any company besides Apple. Some others might vote positive because competition is a major incentive for companies to keep delivering.
So, just because you don't understand individual motivation for voting one way or another doesn't mean there is "absolutely no reason." I agree that the interpretation is ambiguous and I'm not sure what the rating system achieves, though.
Oh, and thumbs down on the "like"/"positive" option. It's the same thing as the current system, and if you don't have a "negative" option that's just weak to begin with.

I've got about 2 hours to decide yay or nay if I want next day delivery of a new Macbook.
Here is my situation.....
I have a white Macbook from around 2009. The model appears to be called Macbook 4, 1. It works perfectly OK but the battery life is rubbish. Even on my brand new battery it only lasts 3 hours. For work reasons I need to start using my Macbook on trips and away from the house and I need something therefore with a substantial battery life.
I know a lot of people prefer the Macbook Pro but I really enjoy the clean white look of the Macbook. And so I have my eye on the 2010 Macbook. I've found a brand new one for 720.
My requirements for a laptop are:
that is portable/relatively light
All I will run on it are Word, Scrivener, email, internet etc
Decent keyboard
Great battery life
Do you think it's worth me buying the 2010 Macbook? And do you think 720 is a reasonable price for it?
Thanks so much!

A friend of mine wants to insert a small clip into a DVD movie. Now I'm trying to think of how I could easily do that in a day, and frankly I'm coming up short. So I was wondering if any of you guys could give me some advice.
So here's what I want to do in short:
Have a Movie on DVD.
Want to put a clip (friend is asking a girl to homecoming) in the middle of the movie.
Want to put the spliced movie back onto DVD.
My orignial idea was to use a camera with DV passthrough, record it onto computer, then use editing software to put the clip in and put it on DVD. But if anyone else has a better idea, that would be great.

Shopping Carts seem to be on the mind today!
I am helping a friend out with a website for her new business. The products are customizable, so we need the ability for the customer to select several options (using a form) such as Ribbon Color, Fabric Design, Size, etc. (more options than the typical). I am envisioning a form for each core product (shirt, belt, bag, etc.) and then several drop-down boxes for choosing options. Ideally this would all be hosted on my friend's website, not externally. Then, the customer would click "add to cart" and they would be taken off-site to the shopping cart system and could choose to "checkout now" or "continue shopping" (in which case they would be taken back to my friend's site with the option of adding more stuff to the cart, of course). Basically, the only thing we would have to assign is a price to each core product (all prices are static for the core products, the custom options are included at no additional cost) and pass that price onto the shopping cart. My friend would need to receive the info via e-mail notifying her of what to create for this customer.
Is PayPal's "Website Payments Standard" a good option for this sort of thing? My friend purchased the GoDaddy shopping cart, but that is just awful -- it takes you to a completely different site (where the shopping cart is hosted) and makes it impossible to return to the real site to choose more options! You are basically stuck on the shopping cart site and all products are there in this template that doesn't look anything like my friend's site.
It looks like the costs are strictly based on how much you sell... 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Seems high, but there are no other fees AT ALL, so I don't know how that compares to others.
Anyway, let me know if you have any experience with this cart, or if you have other suggestions. I am definitely looking to purchase something, as I do not have the knowledge of security to do this myself.
Thanks!!
Jenny

Movist is Universal and should run on a PPC Mac and in 10.5.8: http://code.google.com/p/movist/
Thank you.
I'd never heard of it having used VLC on both Windows and Macs.
Am going to have him try it and it does appear as if it will work.
If there are any problems, I will be back. :p
Thank you!

Here, in France, there are many people who complain of problem to read video on youtube and it seems that this is due to wifi instability on the IPAD. Is this the case with you ?
