This makes me sad.
Nothing to be sad about, Apple have a lot talented (as talented as these Hackers) engineers testing and researching the firmware, at some point they will find same holes and exploits as the hackers, that is their job, other time they won't. It is the nature of the development cycle.

i was all ready to plop some money down for a new 80gig iPod, even though I really dont need it. the big attraction for me was the battery life. however...
i upgraded the software in my current 30gig 5G and with the brightness controls turned down a bit, i noticed that movie playback lasts a good deal longer than it did, actually letting me watch a full 2.5 hour movie i encoded myself with a bit of life to burn at the end listening to music.
anyone else test the life of their 5G battery watching video with this new feature?

Generally, the times messages were sent, and sometimes the messages themselves, are stored for around two years for legal reasons, after which they're deleted. That's the case with text messages AFAIK, anyway.

Browsers are evil. More time can be spent "fixing" inconsistencies than actually designing the page. I normally use FireBug to step through page blocks and examine CSS. I've seen IE choke on something as simple as a missed semicolon.
A guess right off the top is that it might be something with the box model. IE tends to interpret things a little differently so check your margins and padding closely. If that fails you might want to start with a blank page and add in components until the page breaks.
By the way: It displays OK in IE8.
Thanks Laird Knox,
I've fixed the main navigation bar now and for the life of me I dont know how I did it. Think you were right about the box model.
I'll check out FireBug! Thanks again

it doesn't seem like he's going to release his old 4.3 exploit, although I could be wrong. He was waiting for chpwn to provide an iPad 2 bottom dump but I don't know whats going on with that.
What's the reasoning that he won't release the 4.3 exploit? That's disappointing. A lot of people are still on 4.3 on the iPad 2.

I think if you still have a 3GS, you should bump to an iPhone 4. If you have an iPhone 4 I would stick with it til ver 6. I agree with what this report is saying. The faster processor and camera will most likely make it's way to the phone, but Apple will likely stop there and wait for a screen size improvement for a later version. Apple is not known for just upgrading all of a device's components at once. They tinker with a couple things and slap a new version number. It's what happened with the iPad2. Many expected a higher res screen, but that would have been too many component upgrades.
That's what I just did. The screen alone is worth the upgrade. I no longer feel bad about not necessarily getting the 5 and skipping that version and getting the 6 next year.

I just got my BSE order today (bought it when they did 10% discount + free shipping). I got a open envelope and packing slip, no screen protectors. It appears they didn't seal the envelope when sending, because the adhesive to seal the envelope is unused.
Do you think BSE forgot to put them in there, or someone from the post office jacked em?
Has anyone else received an order like this?

Why not just buy the Mac version of AutoCAD?
I downloaded AutoCAD 2011 and can't install it because it said my macbook version is not supported.. I have Macbook 4.1 and AutoCAD 2011 for Mac system requirements is 5.1 or later.. Autodesk just release the Mac version last year..

standing on my apartment roof watching the smoking towers. i lived in brooklyn at the time, and watched as the smoke billowed out towards me. i used to live a few hundred yards from the wtc, but moved out to brooklyn the year before 9/11, still used to go through it every day on the way to work though (the N train). i was going to go shopping that morning in the mall beneath the towers, but woke up late (i was working afternoons at the time, and then decided not to rush and get there, so just took it easy (building my new lego technics star wars tie bomber that arrived the day before :o , until i heard the news that is).
i ended up watching the tv all day, desparately trying to contact everyone in england (all my family is there) to let them know i was ok. the only person i couldn't get through to was my mother, finally managed to get an email through saying i was fine, and she hadn't heard what was going on (no tv's or anything in her office), then her boss walks in with the news and she's worried as all hell, not understanding my email. then five minutes later i got through on the phone.
i still remember the smell more than anything, and then the sounds of the firefighter's locater things. i used to work just below 14th st (which was a cut off point) so i managed to get there later in the week, but it was just so surreal. some of our clients were having a breakfast meeting in the Windows of the World that morning, only two survived, one 'cause he was late, the other went out to get some more magazines or something (in advertising). other than that, i'd consider myself extremely lucky, everyone i know that works there was fine, amazingly no one i personally know was hurt that day (physically anyway, plenty of emotional pain though)

I love Infinifolders, have it on all my devices. I have held off on Infinidock because I thought it did not really add more icons to the main dock view, just allowed you to scroll the 6 that were there over so you can have as many as you want, right. Similar to what happens when you double click the home button for fast app switching. I might still go that route, I was just hoping for something that would allow more right on each page.

Good god, are you seriously suggesting that if you don't need a 2560 x 1600 resolution you don't need a computer? Hahaha... just quit while you're behind, man.
Hahaha. I guess most people on this board don't need a computer then.

Deep Vacuum
I have often done this with wget (http://directory.fsf.org/GNU/wget.html), which is free/GPL, and that is also what Deep Vacuum seems to be doing, it just gives you a GUI on top of wget.

It all depends on what kind of music you do.
I'm using the VSL Special Edition, LASS strings and Spitfire Percussion. I've got my orchestral basses covered, although it seems like this will be the year of the brass library. Several manufacturers are coming out with next generation brass. I don't do any solo piano, so the Bosendorfer that's included with VSL works great for my needs.
You can pick up LASS Lite now for $400. It won't include the divisi option, but it's a great section string sound with incredible short bows.

the click wheel would presumably be a "virtual" one that appears on the screen.
I don't think a touch bezel would preclude the use of a touch screen also.
Arn, based on the AppleInsider article, and Fig. 13C in the filing, you seem to be correct.
next Tuesday, right? :)
