I don't think we're ever going to have a shortage of wealthy and powerful people; even authoritarian government have their share of plutocrats. I also question the notion that the acquisition of wealth is always assumed to have been legitimately "worked for" or "earned". ENRON, Madoff, the banks during the credit crunch....
As evidence that some rich people didn't earn their wealth, you just referenced Enron that went bankrupt, Madoff who went to prison, and the Banks who we bailed out... and would have otherwise gone bankrupt. So, essentially three examples where the free market either did or would have (without government intervention) correctly punished bad businesses. Odd choice.
At any rate, you're putting words in my mouth. We all collectively decide how to govern ourselves, and it's not always the case that a simple majority is enough to implement changes to the status quo. Also, it has been demonstrated time and time again that a small number of wealthy and powerful people can get their way in the face of overwhelming opposition from less wealthy and powerful people. It cuts both ways. You seem to be trying to characterize any increase in taxes on the rich as a form of theft perpetrated by the rest of the nation; that's a very twisted take on the concept of taxation.
Hardly. All I'm trying to do is better understand your position. You seem to take the position that the majority or mob rule can decide how much money to take from one person without inflicting the same on another person... in effect choosing winners and losers. Furthermore, you seem to not put any limit on this position so it would seem that you feel the majority has the right/ability to take as much money from 'the rich' as they choose to as long as they do it with a majority in the democratic process. This would imply that you don't think that the person who actually earned the wealth has any sort of moral or legal claim on the wealth. Please enlighten me as to where I am going astray in describing your position.

SLC BB. Total = 1. Sad really, I thought I would have company besides the homeless. It's ok though, I shared some of my breakfast burrito I had from McDee's.

So I just got my apogee duet (it's from 2007 which previously belonged to my friend who passed it on to me). I have a Macbook Pro 10.6.4 version and the cable it came with is a 400-400 so I went out and bought a 800-400 cable for it to plug into my macbook. Heres the problem, as soon as I plug the firewire cable into the port my macbook completely SHUTS OFF/CRASHES. EVERYTIME where I can't get the duet working. I tried turning off my macbook THEN plugging the firewire into the port. After that I'll turn on my macbook and it will work with the firewire plugged in but that does not mean I can get it working. The firewire has to be unplugged then plugged back into to initiate a response to turn the duet on but NO, my macbook completely shuts off again. I haven't even gotten a chance to use this baby, I haven't been able to get it working/turn on even once.
What is the problem here?!

Thanks for the reply. Hmm... That could work. Does anyone know if there's a tweak to set a limit on the amount of photos that can be stored? Or a "delete all photos" tweak?

While I know that I am suggesting something that's already been done by Dave Shea (http://www.csszengarden.com/), I think that in order to quell the critics, you should post a copy of the XHTML code (including your CMS tags) and allow folks to submit their own CSS stylesheets to the site. That would offer readers many different choices for their CSS styles of the site while showcasing the talents of some of your frequent readers who happen to be web designers.
While I like the new design better than the old one graphically, I agree that the third column makes it a little more "info heavy."
All things considered, it's a great move. standards compliance is huge move. Throw in a few additional style sheet options and I'd be thrilled. I think some of your readers could have a lot to offer in terms of CSS expertise and I for one would welcome those options.

Well, I see for me, some one who isn't going to buy an extra device to play portable games (my iphone has enough games I like, and not just the stupid little angry bird type games, stuff like old rpgs (and some new designed for the phone) and racing games) good and bad in this.
Good in that it may tempt more of the bigger developers to make stuff for my device (like Square has made quite a few games now though many of it is old games redone but hey, they're still fun :) , Capcom has some though in general I don't think Capcom has gotten the hang of making good iphone games, not as impressed with their stuff, we have Gameloft as well).
Bad in that the stuff that is encouraging people to move over is the angry bird type games and that it appears to make the more in depth stuff isn't as profitable. So in the long run we may not see as many games come out that are profitable.
Already it is sad when you look at the console market a lot of games are just games based on popular movies and not much innovation (cause the games based on the movies make the money and stuff like Okami and more innovative stuff gets ignored). I remember when I was reading an article complaining about how that was the trend in games (it happened to movies too once blockbusters came out. Movie studios were more interested in making blockbusters than unique movies, basically finding a formula that worked and sticking with it rather than trying anything different).

And the last one ever apparently.
Hopefully. This latest one sucks. There's not one song on the album that stands out. I would wager that Rammstein even knows this, hence the video for the new single. They know that the album won't get much attention otherwise so they put out a hardcore porn video to jack up some controversy surrounding the album.

Well it depends.
If you already have a keyboard/mouse and a screen you are probably cheaper with the MacMini.
If I hadn't a 26'' LCD HD t.v I would probably go for the iMac.
But it's personal. So don't focus on other comments but determine for yourself what is the best in your environment.

This has got to be a decoy patent. Because if it's not:
(1) How do you design a case to protect it while exposing the bezel 360 degrees around so you can touch it? No coverage in front? Actually, a case couldn't even have a lip to hold it on because your finger would have to get in there to press upon the bezel.
(2) How do you realistically even pick it up or move it if pushing the bezel on nearly any side activates these programmed dynamic buttons? You'd have to Lock it every time you want to touch the thing so you don't activate some function.
This would be a terrible form-does-not-follow-function idea.
Your comments don't take into account that Apple is also going to design in the ultimate intuitive interface. The device will KNOW what you mean for it to do when you touch it. It will intuit just like a thermos KNOWS whether to keep the hot things hot and the cold things cold and is ultimately simple.

And I won't spend extra money on another handheld when I have the iphone and it does have enough games that entertain me (in depth games too though maybe not the latest and greatest).
That's a personal choice. Your definition of in depth is subjective. Mileage may vary.
I think you miss the problem here isn't that people will pick the iphone over the handheld for gaming. Of course if they are just picking a gaming device (and they don't already have an iphone or android), they are going to pick the one designed for gaming that the games they want are coming out for. But that people who might have picked up a handheld for gaming find that the iphone or android they already have is good enough for portable gaming (in some ways better. For example since it is my cellphone, my iphone is with me everywhere so gaming anywhere I want, which is the biggest point of a handheld, it is also smaller and I don't have to carry all the games with me, they're all on my iphone so they all go with me wherever I go. Yeah, there are trade offs, on some games the controls are not as good, but here is the thing. They are good enough, at least not bad enough that I feel I need to buy another handheld just to get the better controls).
That's fine, your not/no longer a gamer. What you do is called killing time.
And here is the bigger problem, smartphones attract enough business away like this and have less people using the actual handhelds, they also attract developers. You might find new games being made for the smartphones that people can't get for the other devices as there is more money in the smartphones... and in the end, the best gaming device is the one that has the games ;).
A sad possibility. Touch will never equal tactile feedback.
Nintendo and Sony need to prove that their devices are so good that it is worth buying them *as*well* as the smartphone the person already has. Nintendo is trying with 3D. Sony is trying to have console like games in a small portable device (I'll say I'm much more interested in Sony's offerings. But I've never been impressed with nintendo's game selection except when I was really young. I really do not get the Mario love here or why people think Mario is any better than Angry Birds, they're both (at least traditional mario scrollers and the racing games) cheesy time wasters that I wouldn't say have all that much depth).
I highlighted your problem in red. This is why IOS games are good enough for you. You've lost your gamers edge. This statement alone is proof of your non gaming affiliation. Since you imply that you are 'older" perhaps you attention span for the more in depth games is just not there anymore.
Compare Angry Birds to Mario? Cheesy?
Take a look a this game list, that is the epitome of chesse: Appshopper Games (http://appshopper.com/games/)
Any 5 year old can play Angry Birds, that's the audience. How many 5 year olds can beat a Mario game?

How does "Yes" translate into "will be available soon"? Did I miss/overlook something.
Ugh, I had seen their facebook post and took it for face value... then I just actually read the link...
Where does it say 4.3.1? All it says is "YES" not "Yes, Soon"... and not "Yes, Soon, 4.3.1" ... I hate when "tech news" sites assume things just because they want them to be so. How annoying is that. Sure I'm guilty of reading too much into the headline, but it's annoying they wrote the article based on this one word "YES"

Many of them will have inhouse teams to develop their bits and pieces.
Considering lead and production times, I would have also thought that large-scale holiday-specific artwork production would need to be signed off in June-August in order to accommodate any special repro processes and finishing... and then getting product to point of sale.
So, if this idea appeals to you, try aiming for next year and put together a lo-res sample sheet to try some cold calls with... but don't get your hopes up, there could be other more productive and lucrative ways to further your career.
