Oh, no, it's the other way around. I've been offered one for just shy of $1000 and can't seem to find sufficient information to determine how seriously I should pursue it. It sounds like $1000 is within the established bounds (for collectors, anyway), but better deals often occur?

Easiest question I've answered all day. Use a laptop.
DVI to VGA converter - and you can now use Keynote anywhere. Airport, and you can print your Pages doc anywhere.
Then you have a Mac and iWork wherever you go - despite the OS preference of your work or school.

For those talking about "collaboration tools" - I never have understood the fascination (possibly from lack of my own knowledge). In the school arena, we all know that one person in the group ends up writing the paper or putting together the slideshow. Let's face it - the rest of the group just mooches.
And, if my lonely Mac and I want to collaborate something that I wrote with rest of my Windows-crippled office, they get a PDF. They can either send me general comments or print out a copy and mark it up. It keeps others from mucking with my originals.
Not that I'm paranoid about other people touching my documents. :cool:

Anyone have info on if we can buy just the phone, without a plan, and then jailbreak it so it can use my current rogers plan? iPhone plans are gonna be nuts. I want to be able to just go in and buy it, without signing up for rogers.
Also, is there a limit on how many we can buy? My dad wants one, so I would be buying two...
and can they be payed for with a bank card?

I think your biggest problem is going to be *sending* a signal from the iPod, not receiving it.... Unless you're willing to go with an FM transmitter, which I'm assuming you're not, right?

The MacBook Air and the iPad are the future of portable computing. Thin, light, fast (SSD). Enough power to get the job done, not so much power you need 3 cooling fans and 3 lbs. of battery to do it.

I looked into getcwd, and I was able to get the directory of the executable. I wrote some code to modify the path to go up a couple of folders, and I verified that it did the correct modifications. Furthemore, I found that the program worked just fine when I opened the package contents of the .app file and ran the executable inside the MacOS folder from Terminal.
However, the .app will not run from Finder.

It's my understanding that Microsoft's cash infusion was more symbolic than anything else and helped forge a relationship that included the much more important agreement to continue making Office for the Mac. Furthermore, Microsoft was worried about a DOJ investigation and ensuring that Apple would continue on keep that particular dog quiet.
Microsoft has never done anything out of charity; there's always been profit in the company's actions and they deserve to get thumped a little bit.
That said, the MS programmers have a very difficult problem to solve, much of it created by people who worked on Windows more than a decade ago.

does it look crappy like that while you are working in word, or on the finished product? i would assume that word likes to display graphics with a little less quality than what you actually put into them. if you are talking about the finished product, then perhaps you should type your "reports, etc" in word and then get your hands on indesign and put all of your text into there.

Had a stock 2009 15" MacBook Pro and running Photoshop CS5 became a chore and often plugins would crash it.
Just got the new 27" iMac, stock $1699 model. Runs Photoshop SO much faster. Made a little video: iMac output to my 46" Vizio tv via Thunderbolt MiniDisplayPort-HDMI adapter. While running Photoshop CS5, ran Topaz Adjust and Alien Skin Exposure...plugins and movie trailer ran smooth, no hiccups, def couldn't do this with my 2009 15" Macbook Pro ;)

If your MDP->DP cables are from Monoprice (or are the same as those from Monoprice) then that's your problem. Those cables are crap. They don't send a proper active signal or something when you start up.
This is an over simplification, as I believe I posted in that thread as well. I have a 5870 driving 3 Dell 2410s all with monoprice cables with no issue, 1 dvi and 2 mdp/dp. The subtlety was with, at least Dell monitors, something in the xx11 model lineup that made it an issue.

Heat shouldn't be a problem, the 6600 is a very weak GPU. Even the current Mac Mini's GPU is twice as powerful.

Yes you will need to jailbreak if u want to load version 1.0 of the app and haven't obtained it from app store before it was updated.
