Well, let's say you are working on a Mac (bless you) and all your co-workers are using a PC. Suddenly, you have to work on the same documents (like a .doc, a .ppt or a .xls) Call it "incompatibility"...
I don't like MS but a lot of peoples (over 90%) still do...
Well, Pages can open and edit and save .doc files, and Keynote can do the same with .ppt files.
But formatting and the such can be an issue. NeoOffice/OpenOffice handles .doc and .ppt formatting better, from what I hear. I've never used OpenOffice extensively, so I wouldn't know.

So... Does this mean my G5 iPod will have increased resolution? And also, when I updated my iTunes and plugged in my iPod it said it was already up-to-date. Hummm... any one have a suggestion?

The only thing I don't like about using the phone as a steering wheel is I am turning my screen as well, so it is harder to see what is going on. Plus I am not a huge fan of the lack of analog gas and braking.
I haven't noticed the issue (I do notice that the games seem to tilt the screen too so your view stays level ;). But only if I'm paying attention). I have no issue seeing what is going on honestly.
As for the analog gas and braking, gotta agree. Need for Speed Shift lets you try braking for yourself (I actually let it brake for me), but all of them just do the gas pressing for you. Honestly because here is a weakness, there is no real way to implement a way to easily press gas and do the other stuff which is why they do that. Actually, I could see a way of doing it (all have to be with the right hand) but then I don't see a way of implementing shifting easily if you prefer that (Need for Speed let's you shift if you like, Asphalt 5 does not but NFS is more serious and Asphalt 5 is more arcade style).
Anyways, no, it's not console quality, but it's still fun :) (and in the end, that is the most important part, is it fun?). I think I'm going to turn auto braking off soon and see how well I do with that (I've unlocked most stuff in NFS at this point).

Does anyone know if they had any inventory today (Wednesday?
I'm wondering about tomorrow or Friday. With the International launch looming it seems that supply will be tight.
I was in the middle of the line (got there around 0800) and there were no wifi-only-models left. It sounded like they had a lot of AT&T models, though.

Did anyone else buy a new song? It seemed to me that when I picked up the new Bare Naked Ladies album it downloaded a lot faster and multiple songs at a time now.
Yeah, I downloaded a Murder City Devils song and I too, noticed that it downloaded the song rapidly (I accidently bought the song twice...don't know how:mad: ).
I also noticed song previews run much faster then before.

The best piano is Synthogy's Ivory, Not only does it play beautifully, and sound great but has some great less "real" patches too and lovely sounding reverbs.
I'd say with your budget get Komplete 7, and then add on extra libraries as you see fit, LASS, east west or VSL for instance.
Other really useful software is spectrasonics, RMX, Trillian and omnisphere as with these you'll have your, loops/beats, bass, synths and pads/textures pretty much covered. for great real sounding drums, addictive drums are great sounding and MUCH lighter on rescources than DFH etc.

The link above shows the 1 percent in terms of LCS Failure.. I was going by that, not by other problems in the machine.

i hope stanford makes a version that sets itself up as dual in the future. it seems long overdue
there's a field in the rc5 client that says number of processors and u just change the value....seems like stanford isn't too concerned about this

Well, I stand corrected. Not too familiar with ships that old. I've only deployed on 11 of them! :)
You gave me the answer. On your hunch, I went through a list of the ships in the Great White Fleet and found her there. Nice catch!
:D
Well thank you, I not only did not know the name of the ship. I had no idea what the "Great White Fleet" was I have now found a great site on line. At 63yrs you can still learn things.:)
Until yesterday, I really only knew them as a vague reference by name. I read a good bit about them yesterday and that US Navy history website has some great photos on it.
It must have been quite a site to see them arrive at port!

I agree, it's very annoying, and seems to be one of the Finder's long-standing bugs. I use column view exclusively and still get annoyed when new windows open in another view, such as when viewing an app's package contents.
You might want to try opening a new Finder window and setting it how you like, then closing it and opening another. This has sometimes worked for me in the past.
One way I found to not so much get around the problem but get new windows opening how I like is by using scripts. Here's one I amended from an article originally on MacOSXHints.com way back in 2001. It opens two finder windows, one above thew other in column view, and is designed for a 1024 x 768 resolution screen. It's pretty easy to follow so you should be able to tinker with it to get it exactly how you want it (and remember to change the 'set target...' lines to reflect your user account and what you want the Finder to display).
tell application "Finder"
activate
close every window
-- Bottom Window
set this_window to make new Finder window
-- display external firwire hard disk if mounted
if disk "X Files" exists then
set target of this_window to "X Files:Archive"
else
set target of this_window to "HD:Applications"
end if
set bounds of this_window to {86, 364, 818, 762}
set current view of this_window to column view
-- Top Window
set this_window to make new Finder window
set target of this_window to "HD:Users:db"
set bounds of this_window to {86, 97, 818, 279}
set current view of this_window to column view
end tell

Best investment? A 4G MiFi. I'm traveling connecting through Chicago and I'm watching LiveTV as I wait for my next flight. The video quality over 4G is soooo much clearer than over 3G. It doesn't skip at all.

Is there such a thing as an open source ASP .NET e-commerce starter kit? I know it's unlikely, but you never know... I'm not a big fan of PHP. thanks

This is awesome. Hopefully quality control is still great after this move.
That's what I'm worries about too, but hopefully everything will work out fine.

If Apple wanted to make their phone available worldwide, signing with T-mobile would be the better choice. Compared to Cingular, Deutsche Telekom (the parent company to T-mobile USA) has a much larger market worldwide, covering Germany, the United States, Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus, Hungary, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovena, and Slovakia.
...Although Apple could sign a contract with just T-mobile USA; anything is possible.
