What time is the new FCP being shown? Will there be a live or after event stream? I was able to use the current version in a school class two years ago and I'm interested to see how it's going to change... Can't afford it today, but someday I'd like to replace iMovie with it.
I have a feeling the next version of FCP will be more affordable, something a bit more expensive than FCE is. And then Apple will K.O. FCE.
Haven't heard of any official live streams but maybe a rouge one will pop up on Justin.tv or ustream or wait for something official on Apple's site.

This is scary. While I have no doubts Apple's ability to "get it" will make Microsoft's offering pale by comparison, Microsoft might be able to more than make up for it through marketing and their dominant position in the computer and home gaming market. Then, as in the past, their monopolistic practices will slowly edge out Apple.
And I guarantee you that Microsoft will be much more willing to "play ball" with the movie studios to get the best/preferred deals in offering downloadable movies.

The iPhone 4 will be a year and a few months old by September. I guess Apple can afford to wait simply because the iPhone brand has a good deal of market power, but it's still strange because their competition will be head over heels ahead of them. I hope iOS 5 is out before fall.

Both AAC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Audio_Coding#Licensing_and_patents) and MP3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3#Licensing_and_patent_issues) have licensing fees. It's also a complete mess on the MP3 licensing side.

And I really have to believe that the old metal look will be gone in the end, replaced by the new iTunes look.
Current theme count for the record:
* White aqua (with three different toolbar styles: old, unified/no-line, and little-icons-on-gray-pills like Mail)
* Textured metal
* Smooth metal (iTunes)
* Dashboard (non-aqua sliders)
* Black bezel (like the floating controls in iPhoto)
* Pro aqua (gray with thinner title bars--Final Cut etc.)
* EDIT: new "quick look (http://guides.macrumors.com/Image:leopardquicklook.png)" theme?
All of those are used by multiple apps. There are also special variations like GarageBand, but those are fun and not objectionable to me.
EDIT: Actually, none of the above are objectionable to me--they have their uses--just so we get down to ONE metal look instead of two :) And my vote for best toolbar is the big icons (not gray pills), but in the unified/no-line format. Just like Tiger's System Preferences. (Not like Mail, not like Safari Preferences.) But it looks like the gray pill thing is spreading in Leopard. I can deal... just make it more consistent.

Actually the reason for the battery drain is Apple updated the network baseband vocoder to the latest support UMTS/HSPA+ and better cell hand-offs in order to reduce dropped calls to an absolute minimum on GSM and similar on Verizon...
You get a trade off, worse battery life (some of it has to do with the software though, drain the BATTERY ENTIRELY, and recharge it should get to 80%-90% now... ALSO DO A SETTINGS RESET BECAUSE your phone is running on OLD settings PREVIOUS to 4.3.2) but improved performance in everything else or crappy voice calls because your iPhone can't use the latest network capacity enhancements AT&T/*insert GSM carrier here*/Apple has made or Verizon/*insert CDMA carrier here*/Apple has made.
Personally I like PERFECT VOICE QUALITY on GSM/CDMA.
When I'm @ work I charge on the computer/USB port anyways... Or in the car...

I think there is a hole in this argument/dream. Apple has spent considerable time and marketing money in the Made for iPod campaign that centers arounds the dock connector. They have created the Universal dock and inserts for all recent iPods, promising to keep these updated with all new iPods in the foreseeable future. Therefore, I seriously doubt these new no touch iPods wouldn't have at least a dock connector. .
The new Nike-Apple collaboration shows how Apple could get around this - simply a female dock receptacle, bluetooth (or whatever) configured to replace the physical dock connection. It would work for automobile interfaces, the iPhoto connection etc.
Apple could make a ton of cash "this simple connector - only available from Apple - allows all your iPod accessories to communicate with our new iMonolith iPod"... very 2001:)

I can't really recommend those B&W MM-1 Speakers. My wife uses them (see setup threat somewhere) and the sound really is quite a bummer. The design is awesome though. but for 500 eu or 700 dollars, I really feel it's a NO GO
The Harman Kardon Soundsticks II that I use produce a much better sound at a much better price.

I'm leaning towards MacPhone for the Blackberry/Treo/PocketPC killer with an embedded/lite version of Mac OS X.
Remember, any Apple product using Mac OS has to have "Mac" in it's name from now on per SJ.
So consumer iPhone and MacPhone, or, MacPhone and MacPhone Pro, if the consumer phone has an even more slimmed down version of Mac OS X on it.
Not very likely that a phone product would use a version of Mac OS X, however slimmed down. Mac OS X does not have the real-time capabilities that are required for a phone to handle call processing. Symbian OS, Windows Smartphone OS (based on WinCE) and Linux do have real-time extensions.
