    Steve,

    I'm not sure about Quark Xpress 8 as I currently use Quark Xpress 7 but I have been using Quark Xpress since version version 2.1 and as far as I can remember (at least since version 3.1), control + shift doesn't zoom. Control (by itself, not using any other keys) is zoom in and Control + option is zoom out. Also the "Alt" key or as most Mac people call it the "option" key should allow you to move the page around. You mentioned both the "Alt" key and the "option" key in your original post. They are the same thing. Are you trying to use the "command" key to move the page around?

    Sometime after version 4, Quark added an option in the Preferences allowing you to change the behavior of the "Control" key. If you go to the Preferences/Input Settings you can change the "control" key to zoom or to contextual menu. Before the normal behavior was to use the "control key" to zoom in but now the default settings is to have the "control key" to activate the contextual menu. And you can zoom in and out of text boxes.

    Things might have changed in version 8 but I would guess that they are the same as version 7. Version 8 might have some different Preference settings as well (like changing what the "option" key does), it is worth checking into.

    I wish you the best of luck.

    If you like the simplicity of the official iPad 1 case by Apple you will probably love the Candy Convertible by Hard Candy Cases for the iPad 2.

    I shot a video of the case with hands on impressions that you can check out here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbaBTrJRxCM

    The case has a few minor issues that I detail in the video but nothing I would call a deal breaker. It does tend to attract lint because of the material it is made out of (Faux Nubuck).

    Straight out of the package there was NO chemical smell so thats an added bonus.

    If you have questions let me know.

    I was at work, at UNC-Charlotte. There was no access to TV, and the Internet was down, so I got very little information. When I eventually figured out what had happened, I called my wife and we figured out what we would do with the kids. I was there all day and had night classes, so I never saw any of the live footage of the event. My wife picked up the kids after school and took them to a prayer service at their church. I got home at about 10 p.m., by that time my wife didn't really want to watch any more TV, so I never really shared in the live television experience the rest of the world had. Of course, I've since read a lot about it on the Web and have since seen some of the video, but I don't think I had quite the same experience most people did. The biggest concern I had was how to explain what had happened to my kids, who were age 7 and 8 at the time.

    Wow... Microsoft really is a shell of its former self. And not that its former self was all that great. But Microsoft used to be an amazing software factory in terms of productivity (quality was a different story). They used to brag about their ability to "turn the crank" and produce software products well before rivals could. Many were envious of this ability.

    Now, they can't seem to get anything done. Everything is canceled, delayed, reworked. The company seems to be completely incompetent.

    I have been a Mac fan since the original 128K Mac. But I'm also a realist and live in the Windows world as well. And years ago, before OS X came into its own, it really looked like the world had passed the Mac by. But not anymore! Now, Apple is the one firing on all cylinders and getting great products out the door.

    I've used the early betas of Vista and let me tell you, it is bad... REALLY, REALLY BAD. And this is coming from someone who doesn't mind using WinXP when he has to.

    The new reality is that the Apple OS X platform has moved into the forefront of this industry. OS X just works. Period. It's a joy to use. And things are still getting better! At Microsoft, things are getting worse... a lot worse.

    I believe that it's finally time for the world to start a transition off of the Windows platform and onto OS X. I'm not sure if this means that Apple has to supply all of the hardware (although I'm sure they want to!). But the stuff coming out of Microsoft now is utter crap (I mean, it was crap before, but it was at least usable if you figured out all the quirks). Now, everything they produce is a disaster. The company cannot code its way out of a paper bag.

    I have a Time Machine back up from a White MacBook that I sold. I started fresh when I purchased my Unibody MacBook Pro. My question is... is there anyway I can grab some of those files from the old Time Machine backup and put on my new MacBook Pro? Any advice would help. Thanks!

    That's good advice. Alternatively, if you just want to store the files as data, don't forget that the iPod also acts as a Firewire HD, so you can store them as both music and data, if you have the room. In iTunes, click the "Enable Firewire HD mode" in the iPod settings. It will appear on the desktop as a storage device then.

    Regards,
    Gus

    Just keep in mind as well that the transparency trick doesn't work in IE so make sure you have a fall back in those instances.

    Good point! I'd recommend using jQuery for a project like this. The jQuery transparency functions work across all browsers.

    A rumor about next gen iMac is nothing compared to a rumor about iPhone 5.

    Ya I guess you're right, although the market share is rising, many more iphones are in people's hands. Still sucks regardless for the Mac guru.

    Sorry, I might have a caused a slight confusion by giving you examples of element access. The term applies equally (or more so in regards to you teacher's question) to how an array is declared.

    In the Pascal examples from your Pascal Multi-Dimensional Arrays thread, consider the following Pascal declarations.

    var
    suit : array[1..4] of char;
    rank : array[1..13] of char;
    cards : array[1..4,1..13] of char;

    In these declarations the stuff in square brackets can also be referred to as subscripts.

    I think your teacher is asking you to think about the data types of these subscripts, particularly in regards to multi-dimensional arrays like the cards array above.

    (BTW I actually don't know the answer to this question, because it's Pascal specific, I've forgotten 99% of Pascal.)

    lmao no chance they will give an ipad lol.. i dont even need that ipod touch thats why im not gonna wait for that deal to come and im gonna buy the imac this saturday.

    Besides its not like its FREE, you got to pay for it, then wait to receive the rabate and u lose $20 cuz they dont return you the money u paid for the tax.

    It seems like hassle for me but i mean if the deal was going on now or this weekend i would have swung for it but to wait 3 weeks for it and then another month to get the rebate back, besides ill need another $230 bucks on purchase day on the spot to pay for the ipod, u get my point but thats only me.

    this saturday is gonna be a good day ;)

    Well then I would definitely say these 2 I found are both reproductions of some sort since they both have a copyright on them. I kind of figured that was going to be true as it seemed uncharacteristic of apple to mess up a piece of art with a copyright line. So they definitely are not worth the $80 and $60 they are asking for them. Maybe if I can get them down to $10 or something I might buy them. Thanks for your help and input.
