Army PT, then coming home and getting dressed for ROTC. I was in Utah and don't listen to the radio or watch tv in the morning - so I didn't hear anything about it until the girl that was in love with my roommate (who believes milk will give you leukemia) called to tell us a plane hit the Pentagon and WTC.
Then spent the next 30 min trying to get through th jammed DC circuits to find out my Dad's doctor was getting impatient to discuss some test results and asked him to come in. He went to see the doctor instead of going to his weekly meeting at the Pentagon.

Yes with Game Center this has the chance at competing with 360 and PS3/steam etc and now that Unreal engine is ported to the iOS Gaming on the i Devices have no where to go but up.
You're not on Twitter here, sentences!
Right. No I don't think they could compete. Maybe in the casual market but then it would be up against the Wii which I don't think anyone can do just yet.

Looks good! Only thing I'm not fond of are the bigger avatars (although I will be making mine bigger to fit in), the huge text capabilities (I think this will be abused) and the different colored smilies. But that's just IMHO! ;) The rest of it looks great. Good job!

Both cameras look great! I'm going to have to watch for sales. Leaning toward the second one. Thanks for posting the pictures. They look great! So jealous you went to the Harry Potter park.

I don't think it is possible without a reinstall. Why don't you just stop any service you don't need?
Figured it out. It kept trying to relaunch because the wiki server was turned on for some reason(everything else was disabled). Disabled that and collabd quit.

thanks, hex monkey, for the link! strangely (or perhaps not so strangely?!), when you download and use wtpro, they explicitly state that it is *not* free software and that it must be registered within 30 days...no mention of free functionality...alas...

The current range of GFX upgrades for Mac Pro in OS X is very limited. 5870 is the highest spec card "officially" supported for Mac Pro.
Some intrepid souls are using Windows build 6870 cards with hacked drivers in OS X, they do work but with limitations.
Apple have just released iMac models with new generation mobility GFX cards: e.g. 6970M 2GB as an option.
The future, with Lion being released fairly soon, looks to contain 6xxx series GFX cards so hold on with the upgrading till it arrives.

Since you still have time, you might want to get a look at some threads about various issues and defects. The Mini is not too bad, but things can happen...

Tad higher than I'd like, but can probably be lived with (assuming the reported data is even accurate).
Not sure how Partition Magic would work with an array (never tried it).
I just use the OS's ability to partition, or on occasion, Acronis True Image (use it for backup and cloning under Windows, but it also has a partition tool in it).
Oh, ok.
So just partition in Windows, format one partition in NTFS, leave the other one as unallocated space and from OSX format this unallocated free space in HFS.
What is the most accurate temp reading software out for the Mac anywhere? Like RealTemp on the PC gives very accurate reads.
iStat was recommended to me on these forums, though I don't have much confidence in it.
As lazy as I am think I am going to remount. However the way the temperature rises does not feel like it's the CPU making poor contact.
It's like for 3 minutes during prime95 test the CPU temp difference will be in 5-6 degree range, then very slowly the CPU A starts climbing up.

Hi. I'm a freelance designer...I guess I'm still just starting out. The holidays always make me think about trying my hand at designing prints for wrapping paper and gift bags. Most wrapping paper designs seem like something a competent designer could do with relative ease in Adobe illustrator...simple yet fun 2D vector designs of snowmen, snowflakes etc. I was wondering if anyone out there has tried this and if it's possible to successfully shop your designs around to manufacturers? Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Phil

I don't know if there is a way to directly get wired ethernet connection on to your iPad. I think probably not. But, one pricey solution is this:
Buy an Apple AirPort Express, a very small wifi router about the size of your palm. It will plug into the wired ethernet and broadcast wifi signal.
+1 - This would be about the same price as paying for 3 months of 3G service, so it will balance out in the long run :-) HERE (http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MB321LL-A-Airport-Express/dp/B0015YJOK2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303226759&sr=8-1) is the Amazon link..$94 free shipping.

hello everyone! i just joined the forums today and would simply like to introduce myself. i searched around for the appropriate section to post this thread but didn't see an off-topic or introductions section so i figured i would post it here since i'd more than likely spend my majority of time here.
my name is gabriel and i have been a windows user for over 15 years now. that all changed with my purchase of the new generation mac mini. first thing i swapped out was the 2gb ram with 8gb of crucial memory. noticed a huge improvement especially in cs3 and bridge. i am currently using a gateway fpd2185w monitor with apple bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. i am looking into getting an ips monitor and those dell ips monitors are looking very good especially for the price. my monitor was flickering yesterday while running intensive applications but seems to be working fine now. i noticed others on here have experienced flickering screens so i will keep a close eye on it.
other apple products i own are iphone 3gs (wife and i), ipod classic 160gb, airport express and that's about it. so far it's been an easy transition from windows to mac and would appreciate any further advice from you fellow experienced members on here. :)

$170 is day light robbery imo
Of course it is for you. You're from London where you can request an iPhone unlocked for free or for a very small price. In the US all iPhones are locked and ATT will not unlock them PERIOD!! So $170 is not robbery when there are no other options for a factory unlocked phone.

ABC News reports (http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ZDM/story?id=2537247) on a T-Mobile press conference on Friday which discussed their future plans.
T-Mobile has spent $4.2 billion for new wireless spectrum licenses covering the U.S. The new spectrum will require new phones that T-Mobile has been working on with Motorola, Nokia, and Siemens for a mid-2007 launch.
For some reason, T-Mobile's Chief Executive Robert Dotson reportedly discussed "at some length about how Apple's and T-Mobile's visions seem to be aligned."
While Dotson declined to comment about any partnership between the companies, he spoke highly of Apple's upcoming Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).

Could it be that Apple is going to release this new video iPod after Zune so it can steal MS's thunder?....
What do you guys think?
I've been thinking this all along. However, the rumors don't seem to support a near release. But except for the price change, the Sept. iPod releases were not very revolutionary. Release this and watch what happens at holiday time. :D

oh ya, could someone explain what they mean by "gapless playback"?
When you have songs that merge into each other, e.g., a live CD, or lots of dancey CDs or classical CDs, when playing the songs there is no gap between tracks.
This wasn't as simple a solution as you might think, because the encoding of the music (AAC or MP3) encodes into blocks of data of a certain size, so if your song finishes half way through a block, the rest would be empty. I imagine that the reason iTunes has to go through all of the songs to deal with gapless playback is so that it can find the actual end of the song so it can start the next song seamlessly behind it.
