YES YOU CAN OF COURSE, I did NOT used Bootcamp application to install my MacPro Under XP, just put the CD and go ;)
I didn't even have to install XP. I just took my boot drive out of my PC, and put it into slot 4 on the MP. System recognized the disk, and booted fine. After driver updates, XP works great!

Auto is a good place to start, but DON'T BE AFRAID to use full manual 'M'. I have never shoot anything other full manual, except when I was using my camera to take snap shots of stuff I was selling on eBay, FM, CL, etc.
With digital nowadays, it doesn't cost anything to learn! I am not that old, but I learned with film. My first film body was an EOS 650 and then I quickly snatched up two more (an Elan 7NE and an EOS-3), due to it being film. You were "stuck" at whatever the film was, and so I had three bodies out of convenience, if you will. So one body had Velvia RVP 50, one had Neopan and the other had like Reala. Those were the days (like 2002 or something). .
I say this all the time, but I still have " A Film state of mind". In that, I mean I shoot like I still use film. I pre-vision what I want to convey onto "film", thus it slows up my shooting. I guess all the $$$$ I spent on developing and such (buying a CoolScan IV ED scanner, etc to get it onto the computer) sticks with me.
Point is just go out and shoot. I really up until a year or so ago shot landscapes primarily. I used a Rokinon (Vivitar/Samyang,Bower/etc) 85mm 1.4 and it opened up my eyes to different styles, and thus I am venturing into different subjects. Nothing makes up for experience and trial and errors. Understanding how one setting is in relation to the other will greatly help you!

I don't think that's true. I pretty much know it's not actually.
Shooting a 50mm on a 5d will produce a focal length of 50mm and a Field of view of 50mm. (50x1+50)
Shooting a 50mm on a 7d will produce a focal length of of 50mm and a field of view of 80mm. (50x1.6=80)
Part of the reason these two cameras exist is because one of them (5d) is full frame, awesome pictures for weddings say. Slow fps but that's not what it's for.
The 7d however is aimed at sports photogs or wildlife for example. Still an awesome picture, but loses some of it (including aperture, and the fact you can't get as smaller dof, and ISO and the fact you can't get the same low light abilities) for a much faster fps. You would have to be an absolute Apple-hater to go to Best Buy, play with both the iPad 2 and the Xoom (both currently on display for play) and come away thinking the Xoom was a better product. Go compare them yourselves side-by-side (well, they are about 15 feet apart at my Best Buy) and decide for yourself. For me, the iPad is still the clear leader in both fit & finish, screen (off-angle viewing) and simplicity-user friendliness of OS. And the Apps availability really seals the deal if you want to consider what you will actually do with the hardware once you get it home.

While you're at it, better check the tags in your clothes. And don't eat boxed or canned or frozen foods either, those companies also make military rations.
As a child of the 50s and 60s, I sympathize with your politics. As an Army veteran, I can tell you that you're barking up the wrong tree. Fight the politicians who go to war, not the war materials or their users... because there are times that you will really need them, and need them to be the best.

A friend of mine actually does iPhone 4 repairs (on the blacks)- as Apple doesnt cover dropping and shattering your phone- and i believe the units, which are expensive as one cannot just replace the glass but also the LCD + digitizer on ip4, cost him around $100 and he fits them within up to half an hour for 200$.
Depending on how you react to the price you may get a 'discount' of 20%.

I agree. I was trying to show the time on the watch more clearly but it's not right.
Two very different interpretations of apples and oranges. I prefer the second one of yours, JD. The top of the apple is more clear, there's more texture in the front orange and the red apple is clearer and reflects the light nicely and adds a bit of sparkle. I also like the contrast between the fruit and the black background and the subtle reflection in the surface.
OK, my own submission for this challenge. With the utmost apologies to JD, I had to stick with the apples & oranges theme which is what had immediately occurred to me when we set this topic. I've tried to expand on the conceptual interpretation of apples & oranges with some more technical interpretations - a split b & w background, and an over-saturated and high contrast post treatment.

Maybe play off the differences in the textures and color, putting them closer and cropping or framing in tight. I may play with this idea when I can. I have nice oranges, but I need an apple. And the nice lighting setup you have.

No apologies necessary. I think it's great when we have similar ideas implemented differently for these challenges. I very much like the color, textures and saturation. It gives it a very modern feel, especially with the very bold black and white. Like others have said, I'm not sold on the placement or the crop. I get what you were going for in emphasizing the contrasts though. Maybe a tighter crop? Maybe playing with where the black/white line falls in the frame? Maybe placing one fruit in the black and one in the white somehow. Not sure, I think a tighter crop would help the most.

If I may make one or two suggestions, I might choose something like a very green Granny Smith apple and rub it with a soft cloth until it shone. The one in the pic looks a bit blotchy. That might allow you to turn down the intensity on the orange just a tad so it looks a bit more realistic.
Also wondering what it would look like with the orange slightly in front of and overlapping the orange a little, then the view closed in a bit more on them. Just thoughts!

I couldn't agree more. I use Audition/Cool Edit Pro at work (radio production) and have yet to find a suitable replacement for it on the Mac. Soundbooth has very limited usability without being able to bounce tracks into an integrated multitrack.
What's sad is that when I saw all the audio apps available for the Mac I thought Audition level functionality would be easy to find. I couldn't have been more wrong. I have tried Soundtrack and Peak, and each are good in their own way, but neither fill the needs of a typical radio station production load. It is very frustrating to me. Ironically, I sent an e-mail to Adobe just the other day requesting that they port Audition...when I saw the headline about Soundbooth, I got really excited until I realized it was a port of Cool Edit 2000. Still, I downloaded it and will test it on my iMac.
Please Adobe...give us Audition!

I'm trying to learn SQL and want to set up a very simple database on my computer to run SQL statements(create tables, run queries, etc..). I've downloaded querious, razorSQL, but can figure out how to set them up. Hostname, port, etc...
Isn't there a simple environment to do something like this. I've tried several tutorials on setting up mysql from the terminal but never got that to work either.

Hello everyone. I am making a highlight tape for my buddy. He gave me dvds from every game he played in last year. For me to get the dvd onto my computer I either use dvd remaster or handbrake to get it to a quicktime file..
My question is is there anyway that I can just rip like 30 second segments instead of the entire dvd to space some space. Ideally into a .mov. I would like to just put the timecode in and it rips that certain time.. Example : 1:05:07-1:06:23

I don't know if I qualify as a "fan boy" or not... I love technology, Apple just happens to have been the leader for a long time. Anyway, I'm not a fan of CR's criteria regardless of what they recommend. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.I hear ya. People would definitely say Fanboy James is talking Apple again, but looking around my world, I see Sanyo, Sony, Vizio, MS XBox, Pioneer, Toshiba and other logos. I like tech. I have more Apple stuff, but Apple simply makes more stuff that I like in certain ways than others do.

I used to clean my Black MacBook with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. It would have scratches that seemed would not come out with light soap and a rag but immediately lifted out with the magic eraser. That was a plastic case however, I'm not sure how it works on the aluminum unibody style.
